Well I just got my first Presidential Alert. I know this could be a good thing, that we all could at the drop of a hat be informed of emergencies. But I have to wonder. All of us immediately approached by the central authority. Trump or no Trump, matters not to me.

Could Trump or any other Potus after him use this to activate followers to immediate action. Action to help or action to revolt against opponents? I know also that one mans emergency may be anothers excuse fo rally the loyal troops.

So, good in a way for sure. But what could be the down side of this?

It needed to be tested before he declares marital law. Do you keep up on conspiracy theories? :-)

Mine caused my phone to prompt for permission to allow the emergency alert system to make and manage my phone calls.

I told it no.

Edit:
Martial law? First I've heard that one...
Maybe he'll use it to publicly and permanently disband the super corrupt FBI. If everyone finds out at the same time, they can't manipulate the story.

Didn’t get it. Have all emergency alerts shut off. I don’t need to know when there is a flood watch or MeeMaw wanders off from the home and can’t find the Denny’s.

The theory is, he'll declare martial law and then the "deep state" arrests will begin.

My question is why isn't the regular emergency alerts sufficient enough? That's the question..

Not surprised that so many snow flakes have been triggered by this. So many, that CNN actually did a story about it, and the short answer is no.

Of course, CNN and the View are still triggered along with others but let's remember that FEMA is in charge of the system and not Trump personally.

Funny story, having worked a majority of my life in radio and television, I could have implemented an alert whenever I wanted too, as could thousands of others when the EBS system was still active.

Now it is known as the EAS system and is centralized and computerized. Each station had an envelope in the studio with authenticating codes based on the phonetic alphabet. I highly doubt any jocks would have stuck around long enough to provide any news or information. But no Trump could not so just stop.

And you can't turn it off. Maybe if you have a very cheap phone service provider who failed to sign up but doubtful. You can turn off Amber alerts and WX alerts but not Presidential alert. And eventually your carrier provider that failed to sign up will, after they are fined by the FCC

Hope to see Trump use this more often to take his message directly to the American people - bypassing the lying news media and conspiracy conglomeration.

He has absolute authority to issue Presidential Alerts (he's a primary entry point for the EAS), however, a similar non-emergency system could also be devised allowing him to take his message directly to us, without needing the media. If all goes well, they'll be irrelevant and impotent by the end of Trump's Presidency.

Wife and I were in the grocery when it went off. All the cellphones in the store went off and some dip woman started screaming and a teenager ran over and pulled the fire alarm. Panic and chaos insued; we loaded the cart with beer and headed for the back and exited out the loading dock!

Great fun this one!

There is no down side. If the CINC of the armed forces (including the organized and unorganized militia) wants to use the EAS to press the same into emergency national defense service, I say good for him.

He has the sovereign authority to suppress insurrection, put down seditious conspiracy and generally uphold the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic.

So yes, he could very well use this system for that purpose. And hopefully, American patriots would heed the orders from their CINC and perform their national defense duties admirably.

That system could be compromised by the deep state. This should provide him direct access to all wireless users. Please take anything I say with a pinch of salt.

I'm neither left or right, but I have to say I'm getting tired of the common response to be "snowflake and triggered" , whenever someone questions something. I don't think the left should call the right Hitler either. It's childish and weak.

To question the government to me is being absolutely American in every way. I wish more people would do it. This country wasn't founded on followers, it was people that questioned things. I guess you could call our founding fathers snowflakes and triggered for seeking relief from political and religious persecution.

That’s what his followers were hoping would happen. I don’t know if you delve into the depths of the right wing online in other places beside here, but for the past two weeks they’ve been talking about this presidential alert.

How this is going to be a message from Trump about martial law and the locking up of democrats and the 50,000 indictments (which has been proven completely false by the way) being unsealed! The Q people over on voat are scrambling right now trying to rationalize nothing happening haha.

So yes, the president could use the presidential alert for what you’re talking about in the OP. But scarier than that, there’s a large group of people out there who are waiting for it so they can bring war to the streets.
