how could it be worth 100 million if no one would buy it for that much?
wouldn't it be worth what someone is willing to pay?

Nah it's sort of like a Hyper Car.

You buy them not to necessarily drive, but once or twice perhaps, but more so for display and the "i have" factor, like art.

To someone out there, or a museum etc, they would pay that for the rarity of it and the art of it.

Here is some pearl conspiracy material.

The world’s largest pearl: fantastical tale of an 80-year hoax and the men and women who lost millions to its dubious charms Supposedly coveted by Ferdinand Marcos and Osama bin Laden, and once valued at US$75 million, a web of fraud, murder and fiction has spread around the ‘Pearl of Lao Tzu’ ever since it was fished from Philippine waters in 1934

Legend says the diver drowned retrieving the pearl. Trapped in a giant Tridacna clam, his body was brought to the surface by his fellow tribesmen in Palawan, an archipelagic province of the Philippines, in May 1934. When the clam was prised open, the local chief beheld something marvellous: a massive pearl. In its satin-like surface, the chief discerned the face of the Prophet Mohammed, so he named it the Pearl of Allah. At 14 pounds, one ounce (6.38kg), it was the largest pearl ever discovered.

Already posted... .2016
www.abovetopsecret.com...

And here is the thread where this was already discussed just under two years ago.
Only that thread didn't reach to the second page for whatever reason.

Probably because everyone was talking politics - although a look at the front page today shows pretty much the same petty garbage today, so I'm not even sure why I bother.

I have some guitars that would look really nice with pearl, instead of abalone, in lays :-)

It won't upload the pic??? So, I was thinking my takamine eg463sc, all rosewood with quilted maple back (just because it sounds so nice, has a bridge doctor in it), my 61 Martin d-28 in black with white binding and my 59 Gibson es-335 also black with white binding and gold hardware, those would be the ones. Of course it might be nice in my epi sg or Ibanez rg, wouldn't bother with the jasmine 12 string or my knock off Strat. If my bass had an ebony fretboard, definitely, but it doesn't. I have GAS, I think I need to buy some more guitars, thinking a nice hagstrom, gretch or maybe an Ibanez ags83b Artcore. So many possibilities lol

Cheers - Dave
