That kind of still doesn't explain the horse-ring deal and now I want to know. How is it dangerous to wear a ring around horses, whether they be dangerous or not?

I'm not married but the other day a married colleague told me she doesn't wear her wedding rings because it causes her to fidget with them and she can't stand fidgeting.

1. I just don't feel like wearing the damn thing and I don't have to justify it to you because you can't deal with your sexual frustration.

2. Seasonal hand changes. When it's cold out, my hands are smaller than when it's hot. Plain and simple. My ring is too large or too small pretty regularly and not only could I not afford to keep it sized at $100-$200 a pop, because it's a family heirloom I don't want to take it to a jeweler where it could be damaged, lost, stolen, or the stone swapped out of it, and I don't want to be without it for the two weeks at a time it takes to have the work done.

3. Ring pinching with gloves. The thing really causes a lot of pain jammed up against my finger when I'm trying to wear rubber gloves, gardening gloves, work gloves, or gloves for sports. I have to take it off. Might not remember to put it back on right away when I'm done.

4. Arthritis in the knuckles. This can make the ring very painful to wear or impossible to remove if you don't get it off before the swelling really starts.

5. Working with dough, clay, soil, chemicals, or other nasty things that crud up or damage your jewelry. Again, might not remember to put it back on later.

Wow, erm, welcome to the forum, I think.

Maybe I’m not “old enough”, but I wear mine whenever I leave the house. However, I doubt it’s needed.... my 4 kids ought to chase anyone off that might be deterred by a wedding ring!

I wear my rings because I’m proud to be married to my husband, and I actually do look at them often and I reflect on my relationship with him, and usually get a swell of positive feelings.
