Thanks for sharing this.
As most will probably agree, I loathe Moore. But Greenwald is one of the few remaining credible journalists we have left.

The New Yorker I think it was, did what it was trying to pass off as a human interest piece on him last month. But it ended up as an attempted slandering and discrediting because he won't dance to their leftist propaganda tune. He calls out the corruption and hypocrisy wherever it is.

Yea, I read that piece from The New Yorker. I think Glenn handled it gracefully though, even so far as to admit some of his flaws that were brought up in it.

He is one of the few voices period that I just thoroughly enjoy. When I see a new article pop up from him (some I don't care for, but that is rare), I legitimately get excited to read it.

We as citizens have to start actually talking, not arguing. Debate is fine so long as it is done responsibly. But the tribalists would rather discredit their community neighbors than work with them (politically, ironically we all work together professionally with little to no issues).

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Most of us recognize and agree on a majority of the problems facing us, we just believe in different solutions. Once we can stop being fickle and focus on jointly achieving goals rather than "our team winning", we as the people who are supposed to run this democracy can one day take control again... I say that with very little faith.

It comes down to what we trust; the state or each other ? Have we become so cynical of our fellow man we no longer trust them to help ? Must that be done by the state to avoid the indifference and lack of care or is that notion purposefully overblown to put more distance between us as people ? I totally agree at the end of the day most of our concerns left or right are the same; people need food, shelter, medical care and education. We need a clean environment and safe working conditions.

Militarism is the great plague on mankind and the industrial age has created a war industry that simply will not die. We cannot devote half our labor and money to death and destruction without causing great hardship on the people who must pay for it. They are the lucky ones in comparison to those on the receiving end of the war machine bringing "democracy" to those who neither wanted it or know how to implement it. Perhaps that is the first obstacle that must be overcome to create a sane world.

Eta: I know many here think I'm mostly on the right but I count people like Mother Jones, Big Bill Haywood, Eugene Debs and William Jennings Bryan as heroes of mine. I know the struggles of organized labor and how we got to where we are today. That was before Marxism showed us the horrors of socialism gone awry. Times and circumstances change though and atm I think we're better off avoiding radical change rather than jumping in untested waters. That's about the limits of my conservatism.

Yea, go ahead and give yourself an applause on behalf of me, that was my favorite post of the day.

Edit: to add to what you just said, Bolton said we won't leave Syria until Iran does. Iran was also one of the key talking points for Trump at the UN summit. I was desperately hoping we wouldn't have another president that would add to the list of foreign en devours, I don't want to give that hope up.

I plan on watching this when it moves out of the theaters and on to other media.
Michael Moore was one of the very few on the "left" to take trumps candidacy seriously and the concept of trump actually winning.
The "left" laughed at him then and will not support him now. They do not want to be reminded of their mistakes.
The water problem in flint was and continues to be inexcusable for all local, state, and federal officials involved. I would wager a lot of those in chicago feel the same way as they have also been largely ignored.

It was surreal to watch that as it happened. Love him or hate him, I do believe he is one of the "true liberals", between his anti-war pieces and his recognition of the Democratic party failing before they did in 2016, the neo-libs have unofficially blacklisted him for not playing ball.

I don't agree with his politics, but to understand all points of view I listen to him for a total of a few hours a year haha.

I don't agree with his ideas, but I respect that he attempts to find out what is going on and share it with the public. He is one of the few "activists" that I haven't seen attempt to shout down the opposition.

So much truth in that simple misspelling.
Thanks!

There was a time where I was a staunch conservative and I couldn't get past his repulsive image to listen to what he said.

I think I have found center since then and still don't agree with much of what he says, if not most. But he practices what he preaches, and I've seen that in Michigan where I have family in Traverse City. He restored a dilapidated movie theater on the bay, and hosts a film festival there each summer, that is what I've seen personally but anyone can search what he does with his money, and he's one of the genuine ones out there.

I admire conviction, I don't have to agree with someone or like them to admire that.
