How to become like a chameleon to its surrounding when it comes to the distractions of the world?

If you play hard, you break.

Like Bruce Lee used to say, be like water, put water in a cup and it becomes the cup, but remains water.

The Bible tells us: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

I believe peace of mind is the creative force behind your life, so it's an important quality to posses.

May we all find peace of mind.

Surrender to the present moment as it is = peace.

But you don't actually say how this can be achieved?

a reply to: Itisnowagain

I don't want to be a party-pooper but without a positive outlook which is automatically a bit future the now can be a prison.

Who needs to know? Don't we all have peace of mind?

That's the trick, making people believe they don't have what it takes.

I need to know, because I really don't have that.

I see. You have nothing. What light at the beginning of what? And since when has there been justice? Are you from this planet?

I appreciate your honesty and sincerity. We are not born with "peace of mind". There is a way to accomplish it, but it takes discipline and practice, through meditation and practicing non attachment. Desires and attachments and seeing our selves as separate will never allow for true and consistent peace of mind. The path I speak of takes consistent practice and commitment.

Just sit still and don't let it bother you if you get trampled over? That's how I read "meditation & non-attachment". Next step death of the ego... doesn't matter because you already lay flat on the back why not also dying?
Better advice would be work for small instances of success. Create positive moments. But you are all just about enduring and blaming the self.

No... we DO NOT. I know I do not- even tho I have worked for it. I do know trying to achieve it while being out in the world is at best- impossible. Example- if I am taking a walk, and I try to center myself, be at peace- there will be an absolute 100% chance someone will come by and ruin it. I have kept notes. When I say come by and ruin it- I am talking everything from blowing their horn to one night, trying to peg me with one of those green laser pointers. There is *nothing* like trying to walk up the street and have someone try to put a dot on your butt. I know this because they couldn't keep it straight while aiming from the car. "What's with the weird green dancing li-OH SH" I can get some measure of peace when I'm at home, till someone goes by with that damn bass music vibrating *everything*.

Don't we all. What world do you live on?!

Justice? When?! WHERE???

My running joke is "I'm not from around here" and even I can see the state of 'justice' on this putrid rock.

Your understanding is inaccurate. Actually, if you can develop mastery over your mind you will be far more effective than you were before. Meditation will allow you to fully participate in your life. You do not loose your ego, ego is essential for life here, you just begin to see when it is not serving you in a way that is beneficial. This is not in the least about blaming the self, what is there to blame??? I am not trying to give you some new age bunk here. You seemed honest and sincere and I have a solution for you, if you choose to listen, that's all.

Wylecat, you seem sincere as well, there is a way...honestly.It's not about new agey stuff, not about religion, there is a logical step of actions you can take to get control of your thought processes. Peace of mind will never come from the exterior world, it will come from within and will not be dependent on what happens in the world.

I always say, the planet is beautiful the people are the problem. But justice in the end is only a fairy tale for those believing in a life after death.

Another Bruce Lee quote that may expand upon your quote:

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

So, go with the flow or crash seems to be the message, but we all should flow to our own rhythm and choices.
