I agree that we have the potential to do great things as a species, but this very system which binds people to ignorance was ultimately created by us. Those in power are no less human than we are (unless you believe the sorts of David Icke), so in the end, if we kill ourselves, it's still our fault.

It was created by people before us. It is hard to stop the snowball once it gets momentum down a mountain.
Those in power have power making them think they know better, a little minded man with power can do a lot of damage.
If people had a choice to end ignorance I like to think the majority would want to be freed but even if it was just one person then there is hope.
