This is just like when people said that Obama's first act as President involved sealing important records. When in truth that EO was actually undoing a Bush era EO and it made it easier to access to presidential records.
And there goes the line that the whole point was to establish an office bent on witch hunting journalists that fall out of line.

The concern has to do with investigating leaks. It is not about harassment.

The first frickin paragraph has snip censored out.
What would that be for if not for nefarious means. Its not like it'd fall under National Security. Like OMG Russia might find out about them watching journalists, as if they wouldnt know about it if they actually cared. Guaranteed thats there to protect themselves from US.

Now look at this related document, like 90% of it is blocked out:
www.documentcloud.org.../p1
Here's how it works: you make a document and in the first paragraph make it sound like 'improvements' to any potentially criticizing eyes. Then you go on to lay out a whole new machination hell bent on the subject. Pork barrel some extra stuff in there to backdoor 'other stuff' that it supposedly was all about blocking in the first place, or whatever. Then when you "release" the document alarmists wont be able to ascertain what the hell actually happened and pacifists will have just the right pieces defend defend defend the thang (generally by trying to keep the discussion zoomed completely into the specific case, and not the bigger picture / the complete related track record of the topic.

Can you prove that is the case here, or are you using more appeals to ignorance to paint the picture you want others to see?
When hasnt it always been the case?
Like anything along these lines was any better post-Dubya. Like they're any better now??
Obama handed Trump all that "Department of Ministry of Truth" machinery when He left, hell signing the 'completed' version was one of His finals acts. And if anything these documents here are part of the buildup to that.
