It's a rigged system, old mafia style bullish. Even if you want to do good things the old dogs hold all the cards. You have to give in to even have the potential to push legislation for your cause. They have to cast votes for harmful policies to even get a look, they then hold that over you. On the chance you do happen to get something through it is amended to be a shell of its initial intentions. They get beat down, decide that everyone else is benefitting, why shouldn't they, after all they had good intentions going in.
