The only thing a criminal record prevents against is the chance of a decent job, well a legal one anyway.

Fact of the matter, if indeed a person was inclined to commit a criminal act with a firearm it's probably best to do so with a weapon that's not registered to your name or address.

The article says he was prescribed anti-psychotic and anti-depressant medications as a teenager, it doesn't say if he was currently taking them or not. If he hasn't taken them in years, not sure why it was mentioned in the article.

Likely to give the reader the impression that he was a troubled individual, and he obviously was.

Clearly, something broke down in his family life, and either mom was off her rocker and completely ineffective with him or dad was totally in denial about his issues or somewhere in between. One parent was at wits end with him and thought he was a nut while the other thought he was normal.

Something doesn't wash all the way around in all that, and I'd wager it was as much issues between his divorced parents as much as his own issues that helped cause all this trouble.

Thank you for your intelligent response. The ad Homs with nothing to back them up except I don’t know my history and I need more meds sure changed my mind. I think you need to re-read what I wrote, maybe slower, because nothing you said addressed what I said. For example, mass shootings over here happen in gun free zones. And me and my shotgun stopped a burglar from making me a victim. Yes he got into my house but unless you’re selling windows made of steel I think that’s a weak argument to stand on
The sound of a shotgun being pumped and the bass in my voice were more than enough for him to drop his pistol and lay on the ground until the police arrived.
