Absolutely, you are correct. The celebrity status would make a huge difference for him and extended to his family. I don't approve of looking the other way for family of celebrity's and then allow rest of us to get our heavy handed punishment. It was Sonoma County DA's office that thought there was so little evidence against Asimov they would wipe their hands of the case and bump it up to the Feds. It was the grand jury that then decided there was only enough evidence for four counts of possession of child pornography. And it was the judge, based off of psychiatric reports on Asimov, that gave the light sentence.

Based on the facts we know, it seems like there was a weak case against Asimov. Which is probably why Mueller offered the plea deal. He wasn't sure if he'd get a guilty verdict on any of the counts. This way he at least pins Asimov with two.

How many other cases of no jail for possessing Child Porn? I can't imagine that anybody where I live gets off for Child Porn tapes! They make the news and they make it to jail here.

Let me know when you get around to the realization that this case wasn't prosecuted by Mueller and the other realization that Judges dole out sentences, not prosecutors and the prosecutor in this case secured a guilty plea to two counts possession of child pornography.
