Between
1) what they both witnessed visually
2) the strange smell
3) the incorrectly worded reprimand

and, #4 as a semi suspicious fact
4) JJ predictably walking back his story

Something fishy seems to be going on here.

Stupid? Really? Calm down dear, you need to be less unfriendly.
Yep, I think your man made a grave error. You may disagree thinking you know best but that is equally just your opinion, so cut the angry 'stupid' labels out and chill out if you wish to pursue adult discussion, otherwise I'll just ignore your needlessly aggressive style of debate.

Not much use calling the cops after the guy drove away.

Are you really this ignorant?*

Sorry bud, didn't know you can't handle a bit of banter. Anyways it's clear you don't have an answer for it since you decided to get your panties in a knot over the word stupid instead of the fact that you said there was not much use in calling the cops after he drove off.

This sites motto used to be deny stupid.. erm i mean ignorance.

Oh behave yourself knowitall, I said it was pointless because the guy had gone by then, the body could be dumped anywhere. Obviously calling the cops while distracting the driver to have stopped at a store for 10 minutes while they went shopping would have been a much better option.
Now stop making ATS seem like facebook with your childlike assertions of stupidity or whatever. Are you as aggressive sounding face to face in the pub or are you just rude sat behind a keyboard where nobody can smack you in the face?

If someone makes a statement that makes them seem like the have a great lack of knowledge, hmmmm i wish there was a simple word for that, I'm gonna ask if the are stupid, oh that's the word.

Stop making ATS seem like facebook? You took the time to write a single sentence post that said "Not much use calling the cops after the guy drove away." Sorry man, you made a stupid post, kinda read like a youtube comment.

Calling the cops even if you dropped the ball or panicked in the situation is the best thing to do, you have to agree with that right?

Nope, I think the guy failed big time, and now he's going back on his story I think he's a liar as well.
Yep, if I genuinely thought someone was in a cage I would have done things differently, certainly finding some way to delay him while waiting for the cops to arrive.
You think differently, cool, opinions is all, I think the guy made a massive error of judgement.
You can cry all day that I don't know what I would do in such a situation, but again, that is your opinion so I shall dismiss it as such...as you are free to dismiss mine.

So he failed big time and shouldn't have called the cops?

I get it you would have done things differently, I hope I would too, but I wasn't in the situation to change it. I don't get why you are defending your stupid post so damn hard.

I've made it pretty clear that I think waiting for the guy to drive away with the possible kidnap victim before calling the cops was pretty pointless. If I had been the driver, that person would be hidden/dumped somewhere as soon as I'd driven off.
What is stupid about such a suggestion?
You seem like an angry little man with a chip on your shoulder choosing to use labels instead of debating like an adult.
I bet you aren't half as aggressive and rude sounding in real life. Go to facebook if all you want to do is call people stupid instead of enjoying friendly debate.

So after he failed big time he shouldn't call the cops, even though the police can get in touch with the driving service find out everywhere that driver has been in that vehicle. Okay I will pretend you actually believe this and agree to disagree.

If this was real life you probably would have admitted you were wrong in that instant and i would have bought you a beer, but it is not real life so you seem to have this need to defend your one line statement.

I don't get why you are comparing me to posting on facebook. You are the one that posted a one liner like this is a facebook feed or youtube comment section. When I registered to this website one line posts were not allowed. Guess they changed that when you got here last year. Apparently you are allowed to treat this place like its your twitter thing.

Dude, you started it with the needlessly aggressive 'stupid' label, it is why I think your style is more suited to facebook. There was really no need for it, all you had to do was disagree without the insult. I've got a thick skin and I am not emotionally damaged in anyway, just calling your style of debate out for what it seemed like.
I'm seeing more of it on ATS these days, surprised you as a member of 10 years couldn't just enjoy some friendly debate without the insult...says more about you than me though so I remain indifferent.

I'm bored debating this now though, I think the guy failed in a major way by only phoning the cops after the driver had gone. It's all a mute point now anyway since he has backtracked on his story, the guy has obviously lied somewhere along the line, I probably wouldn't trust a word he said now.

I really do apologize. I am sorry I offended you by asking you if you were stupid. There wasn't a need for that and there wasn't a reason for me to defend my saying it.

I think part of me gets really upset about one liners on this site because I see so many of them now and it feels like the rule about one liners is being completely ignored and not enforced at all. Not that it's an excuse for my behavior. I do apologize.

Back to the topic. I hope something comes of this and they end up finding the driver. The one good thing about driving services is that they do keep pretty good track of where they have been. I wonder what service it was and if it was a company car or not.

Services like uber will track you when you are active on their app. But if it was a service that has its own fleet of vehicles they most likely will always have GPS going.

No worries mate, I'm usually pretty good at avoiding one liners so I do know what you mean as well.

...I wonder why the guy has changed his statement though, as others have said it seems even more fishy now.
I only hope there really was nobody trapped in a cage who is suffering whoever knows what horrors now.
I guess none of us will ever know except Redick and the driver.

I would have called the cops first if I thought someone was trapped in a cage.
What a prick, somebody's life could be at risk and he phones the company like he was reporting a lost bag or something.
SMH.

He did call the cops, and the FBI.

Not much use calling the cops after the guy drove away.

No it would have done a great deal of good because the company would know the vehicles plate number and most likely the company had a GPS tracking system installed on the vehicle. They should’ve called the cops before calling the company. He really did drop the ball big time.

Someone saying this and that about the car company but not knowing exactly how this one is setup and run. Honesty and ethic in business in today's world? Yeah.

I also wonder if he isn't changing the story as a CYA move to not look bad in some people eyes, whether deserved or not.

Obviously it didn't make a difference, the guy probably dumped the kidnapped person as soon as he drove off to some safe house or whatever.
Matey in the OP has changed his story anyway so who knows what to believe...I know I wouldn't believe a word that Redick has to say anymore, how the # do you 'mistake' seeing a person in a cage. It's fishy as #, and the guy was a douche for not delaying the driver for some phoney stop at a store or whatever to call the cops while he was still in the vicinity.

@roadgravel I agree, fishy as #, either he saw what looked like a person in a cage or he didn't...one thing is for sure, his inaction allowed the driver to disappear with the evidence before the cops got there.

edit on 21-8-2018 by CornishCeltGuy because: (no reason given)

They could have mistaken the back end of a light colored dog as a small child with a ponytail. 🤔
Why would he make it up ? What advantage is it to him ? I think things got very confusing, fast, and he may have made some hasty judgments, that he regrets.

None of us know the whole back story, so lets not go calling him a # ing liar.

Hello world I saw a person in a cage and I phoned the cops after he drove off.
Hi again world, I'm not sure now, the guy got away and maybe I didn't see a person in a cage.
Sounds fishy as # and if he was my mate I'd be grilling him about his switcheroo with opinion.
Nope, I wouldn't trust a word he says now, but carry on trusting his word if that's how you roll. We differ in opinion is all, you know no more than I do, just interpret things differently.

I didn’t say I trusted his word( don’t even know who the dude is )... only asking questions as to why he would lie ? To what purpose ? Maybe the cops told him to change his story so this ring of traffickers would think the heat is off. LEO’s would want to investigate this undercover, and maybe already were, hence the hush down. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, we are of different opinions, looking at this from different angles. No big deal, no hard feelings.
