A Horizon Air passenger plane crashed on an island in Puget Sound Friday night, not long after a suspect conducted an "unauthorized take-off" from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington state, officials said.

Plane crashes after 'unauthorized take-off' from SeaTac airport, officials say

Holy bajeezus, what a way to off yourself eh? I mean he has ringing up the tower and everything. I am not making light of suicide, it is going to leave a lot of people traumatized, but if you are gonna do it, THIS is how!

Dude ripped of a $40 million aircraft and did a couple barrel rolls before stacking it. Awesome bro. Awesome. I hope he found some relief. And I hope Horizon had insurance.

Yeah i saw it in the news.

Had 2 MIGS chasing it. Probably thought it might be terror related.

Crashed into an island. End of terror threat... Unless it was shot down in a strategic safe Place?

It was one F-15 chasing it, and the dude was confirmed suicidal. The only terror victims were the fish when he slammed into the water. I gotta say, the vid was damned impressive. Dude managed a barrel roll and still pulled up a foot short of the water the first time. Second time he got it right though.

It was two. Sounded like ROCK41/42. He actually came down on an island according to LE reports I saw earlier. I haven't read anything in a couple hours though.

Well that's what the MSN is saying.
It had two thumpers chasing it and conveniently crash landed.

He was also extremely low on fuel, and overstressed the engines and airframe doing things they weren't really designed for.

Here is audio of the pilot, his name was Rich, talking to the air traffic controller during the flight.

At one point, he asked for coordinates of the Orca who is carrying her dead calf. He wanted to see the sights on his last flight.
He says he wants to do a barrel roll before landing, and looks like he pulled it off. He said he learned how to fly from playing video games.

He did a hell of a job doing things that plane doesn't really like to do. It was impressive video.

Sounds like he ran out of fuel. He only had about 3,000 pounds on or so at the start and in one clip he says he's down to 760 pounds.

It's amazing that he flew that plane so well and did successful barrel rolls, and the only experience was playing video games.

I'm going back and forth over whether I like this guy better or the San Diego tank thief from 1995.

Maybe he was hired by JANET and they eliminated his existence as a civilian with a phony suicide mission.

The tank running over the RV always makes me laugh. It's a tough one.

Plane guy nails it for me. Anyone can figure out a tanks controls in 5 minutes experimenting, but plane with no prior experience is impressive. Glad he didn't hurt anyone else, and thoughts to his family, but on lucky skills I say tank guy comes second place.

Im leaning plane just because of the difficulty level. BUT tank guy had a lot more airtime. Lets hope he took out a colony of penguins on the ground. That would deffo tip the scales to plane guy.

He was in Operations, many of those people regularly start up aircraft as part of their jobs. My buddy works maintenance for United in Newark and I've been down there when he's started up several aircraft more complex than this one.

Strange they mentioned the pilot was looking for that Orca in this story?
I'll cherry pick from some of the other theft stories in the news, Oh! they found a stolen $160M painting in someones bedroom in Cliff...
