Seems to me back in the 90s early 2000s people were happier when drunk, which suggests a socioeconomic component at play, to me anyway.

When we could afford the luxury of being inebriated we tend to behave better than when are having to take out a payday loan so we can have a night out.

Prohibition is a silly notion only apt to line the wrong people's pockets, which is clearly evident via America's little experiment back in the last century.

People weren't doing so much coc aine back then either though, it was more MDMA and loved up.
These days it's a constant trail of ants to the toilets in every pub and "me, me, me!" in every animated conversation at the bar.
The 90's were so much better, and also better than the 80's when everyone was doing speed, again, another 'selfish' drug which enhances aggression.

Speed was my downfall and own personal demon for many a year, never got aggressive on it all the same.

You lose part of your soul, and it does not come back.

Tell you this the music was certainly better back in the 90s compared to today's fare.

Probably remember such through some Rose tinted spectacles a bit all the same.

The edit to point out that this is quite simply written as an example of how things were very different back in the olden days, things were not destroying our inner cities and our youth back then. The modern drugs like coke and heron look like bad news around here the users look really ill on such things assuming that's what they are onin my opinion are actually evil and are the work of the devil / big business in getting our kids addicted and to hand over their wealth and for them to be destroyed inside out. Modern drugs need keeping out of the West indeed a war needs declaring on the producers and an invasion to destroy the cartels and poppie fields if needed should be drawn up as we need to save our society. Thank you

Nope, my early 20's son and his mates say the same. They are into a lot of our old house/techno/trance classics and wish it wasn't the coc aine fuelled/grime music (angry and disillusioned) bull# they see today.
The stuff in modern rap/grime/drill music is something none of them can relate to, you know, people moaning about #ty life in big cities being all gangsta. It ain't like that down here, it's beach parties and chilled, so when you have a life which is so completely different to the inner city conrete jungles they don't really identify with the angry lyrics.

My generation organise the outdoor free parties now (sound systems/decks/generators/vans) so our music is still 90's EDM 'esque' and the vibe is still 'loved up'. Heck they all grew up around fires while we were partying on beaches, there is no way they can relate to the depressing angst of the current city-based music these days.
It is definitely more angry and less love these days musically...and I'm convinced the massive increase in the use of coc aine is a major negative influence.

Yeah, I saw that anti-drug movie in school when I was a kid. The hippest of the hip, Sonny and Cher, were in it, and there was a guy on '___' who painted awesome cats and a guy jumped off a building because he "thought" he could fly. It was pretty entertaining. We all got a good chuckle out of it.

Groovy, man.

Always been my take on things that most things are ok....in moderation.
Unfortunately moderation is something easier preached than practised for far too many.

CCG's take on things is pretty accurate though.

And surprisingly, it's the Scousers up here as well.

Lol, be careful mate, we're already on thin ice with this discussion keeping the right side of T&C's, it is an interesting convo though, I've seen the changes in our society over the years directly related to whichever drug was the most popular at the time - music especially, which then in turn alters the mood of the listeners.
I'm not really enjoying everyone doing coke these days though, they join the ants trail for a piss, then they come back sniffing like # and Jibber jabbing the same bull# they jibber jabbered about 5 minutes ago.
Bring back the 90's experience I say.

...we had the drug films at school as well, most people laughed at them because even as kids we already knew most people who used recreational drugs didn't end up like the horrors they showed in their scare tactic propaganda.
One toke on a joint and next thing you know you're mainlining heroin was the type of rubbish they showed us at school and of course most kids knew that was ridiculous.
It is good that films these days are more realistically educational now because many young people are more knowledgable about the true situation than a lot of teachers.

Those scare tactics don't work, and never have as far as I see things at least.

Totally with you on the 90's stuff being loving, all these plants from Afghan and Peru etc well the people on them around here don't really look like good adverts for the stuff and now this mokey dust well it's all gone wrong on re wiring our brains really.................... Big business took over and took control of a significant proportion of our kids. Know exactly where you're coming from here and the ants thing you said made me chuckle lol, just the same around here.

Bring back the 90's stuff as it was non addictive plus pretty harmless. The drugs today do need banning really that's just my opinion as the people on them just don't seem wired right in a positive way and all the trouble and crime associated with them is not really a good idea.

That is an important point for sure. I never tried glue-sniffing as a kid because everyone who did it regularly looked ill. That was, and is, perfectly legal to abuse your body with, but the users were a terrible advert for the product. Same heroin addicts.
It is why when 'the state' tries to tell youngsters that everyone who does coc aine is addicted and spending all their money on it every day, then stealing and prostituting themselves out, all the kids know it is bull#. Once the kids think you haven't got a clue, then they don't listen.
I don't know the answers, but I do know that scary government safety adverts simply don't work and are a waste of money.

On-topic, the 'monkey dust' in the OP doesn't seem like a fun drug to take for partying with friends to me. I imagine it's probably only used by smack-heads and/or homeless people wanting to escape from reality.
You wouldn't catch me trying it for sure!

A lot of the poor homeless people addicted to Heroin can go through around 4 or 5 £20 bags of Smack a day which they fund through the likes of shoplifting, theft and other petty crimes.

A hundred pound a day habit equates to plenty of profit.

I imagine that stuff would slash there habitual daily cost by half, so you can see the potential markets, at least from those poor bastards perspective and the people who pray on such.

We waited until the news cycle rolled over. Always keep in mind that if the media or government is freaking out over some new drug scare or fad the kids are doing, it is almost guaranteed the scare is being blown out of proportion.

MDPV (Methylenedioxypyrovalerone) is not really a new drug, I remember early reports from Europe around 2010 and a year later from the US (the Miami cannibal massacre was wrongly attached to it). So it seems that this "old" drug made a new coming in the UK these days. :-)
