Ahh, ya I could see that as being a pain, my knife was my fathers knife, use it on occasion as a tool and wear to remember him.

I forgot to add cellphone to my post.

Chop sticks are the ultimate eating utensil; they take up virtually zero space and weigh nothing.

And you just reminded me of something I forgot...my watch!! Can't leave the house without that! Even though the time can be found everywhere, not having a watch drives me crazy.

I actually carry 2. One is a bit more work appropriate than the other. But they are both excellent machines and no harm with having two.

Man, you must crap a LOAD, just an extra pair of undershorts works for me.

Besides, that's like a defense mechanism, kinda' like chaff to an anti-aircraft missle.

Heh, I like the consent form!

LOL!

I noticed a pen was not on his list...
What good is a consent form without a pen?

DNA samples cannot be forged.

I believe in some states you can use a crayon. I could be wrong though.

Since I'm of the mindset that I may need to walk home from the office (when I'm at the office) and it's a 7 mile walk I have just the bare minimum on me.

5.11 Covrt18 - Has been working well for 6 years as my main work bag, fits 2 laptops and everything needed reasonably comfortably
IFAK
Gerber Suspension multi-tool
Rain poncho
Merino wool hiking socks - My regular dress socks and shoes won't cut a 7+ mile walk, this helps pad things a good bit
40 oz stainless steel water bottle - On me no matter what as I drink a lot of water every day
Small flashlight - one of those $4 Amazon ones, works fine with a spare AA rechargeable
OKC Rat II - small but fits with my work attire
24000 mAh solar and USB charged battery bank
Spare medication
Couple of Cliff bars
Springfield XD .40 subcompact with spare mag

This is what gets me from downtown to my place where depending on the situation my wife and I either bug in or out. If I have to drive somewhere further I carry a bag in my car that's more suited to a 2-3 day trek back home. My main concern is I travel frequently for business, so may end up on the other side of the country, so my carry options are limited considerably in that situation.

In short.

The weight of the world along with a side order of regrets.

Oh! but wait, you are speaking of survival gear. Now, that's different.
I have my two hands and a pocket knife. I wear a pair of comfortable boots, and a light jacket.

Most anything else I need, I can make from stuff I find along the way.

Better check that ID if a crayon is present.

Just never use that if you get a bad snake bite being in CA. Keeps all the toxins concentrated instead of deluded.

For EDC?

My newly bought sword cane, since I've got bad knees, I can get away with it. Along with a 3" folder. I'm also legally able to carry a firearm, but don't always, because I've not gotten around to getting a descent holster for my pistol.

A small fire starter, on my keychain...don't ask me why, 'cause I'm not sure I know.

Money. ID. No cell phone, I hate the bloody things with a passion.

In my car for local travel, other than a roadside emergency kit, and a jack...not a whole lot. Oh, a shovel and small ax.

When I'm going out of town, even if it's just for a drive...I put in my overnight bag, with a rather large selection of stuff:

Two spare mags for my pistol, couple changes of clothing, ground tarp, more fire starting stuff, energy bars, powdered gatorade, and water purification tablets. Couple of small, really small, cooking pans with some small stirring implements. An old wool army blanket, with an equally old space blanket sewn to it, it's a lot warmer than it looks. I'm going to add a breakdown rifle or shotgun to it, at some point, but finances don't allow for that right now. All in an old over night bag that I've had for years. There's some other stuff, too, but I don't remember just what it is, at the moment. Gotta go through it...now that I'm thinking on it.

I know a lot of people think I'm paranoid... I am, I suppose. But I'm also of the mind that I'd rather have it, and not need it, than need it, and not have it.
