Tonight we had to say good bye to our Alaskan Malamute, Loki.
He was only 7 years old.

He went from being a playful happy dog, to a suffering, scared dog in a matter of days.
We couldn’t bare to see you in pain.
And tonight at 8:15 pm your “pack”surrounded you, hugged and cried as we said good bye.

We are left with the memories of an amazing, loving member of our family - but we will never be the same.
We love you and miss you so much Loki.
I wish you were here at home.

Sorry to hear, that's beautiful that his "pack" of loved ones comforted him. Allow as much time as you need to grieve and know he is still with you, in which may be more than just memory.

Regards

Loki obviously had/has a great pack.

That's always a hard goodbye. I went through it myself a few months back with our 14 year old Beagle. She slept under my blanket every night and I could barely sleep for the 1st week.

The hurt slowly fades and we keep the memories. And as someone stated above, hopefully we meet up on the other side.

Best wishes to you and your pack.

Oh noooo! I am so sorry for your loss Hun! I always wanted a husky.
You gave Loki a wonderful home and years of love and happiness. I'm sure he is grateful for that.

I can't tell you how many fur babies I have lost through the years and it is always gut wrenching. My heart goes out to you.
RIP beautiful Loki!

"Today you did the bravest thing ". by Debbie Gaskin

Today you did the bravest thing, today you set me free.
Thank you for showing me the ultimate dignity.
I'm sorry that my leaving has broken your kind heart.
But we knew this day would come, the day we had to part.
Don't think I did not hear every last word you said.
Don't think I did not feel, your trembling hand touch my head.
Today you did the bravest thing, today you set me free.
Thank you for a wonderful life, thank you for loving me. ❤

So sorry for your loss, Macenroe. We can only hope and pray that if difficult, but loving decisions ever have to be made for our own welfare, that somebody cares enough to give us our dignity.

sorry for the pain and loss brother. It sucks, but it's better than Loki being in pain.
Time heals, kinda. Again, sorry.

I thought I could reply with out crying. No.

I thought I could read your OP without tearing up a little.

Was he a mischief maker?

I don't want to cause grief and if you don't want to think about it now that's quite understandable,

He just looks so wonderful and that look he is giving to me does make him look like he liked to mess around a bit.

This really, really hurts

many of your ATS brothers and sisters have been through the same, me included.

You are not alone.

Lots of love to you and your pack.

When they were giving him the needle, I lost it and had to leave.
The whole ride to the emergency vet it was storming.
While they were doing the procedure I couldn’t be in there, went to the car to have my scream cry.
The rain suddenly stopped.
The sun came out and I looked up - there was a rainbow.

I know logic says it was a natural occurrence and coincidental.
But to me, it was him saying good bye

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your family and pack member Loki. I hope that the good times with him are bringing you some comfort, and light during this dark time.

Oh ya he loved to play and mess around.
If you let him up on the bed he would get so excited.
He would spin in circles really fast, then stop go back the other way...
He was so big. He thought he was a small dog and would try to sit on your lap.

Thank you. Thank you all very much

I hate it for you--we just said goodbye to ours within the last month, but at least we had a couple months to prepare after the cancer diagnosis.

I wish you the best in your healing. Just remember all of the good stuff, and be happy that Loki is no longer in pain.
