Spy on political opponents for political reasons. Didn't read the article?

Yes, I did. It doesn't show that. It uses specific language to give the appearance of what you speak of, but that's about it. Not to mention, it does not discuss anything we did not already know and it is simply regurgitating talking points that have been repeated ad nauseum.

It does not talk about corroborating evidence collected by the FBI which led to FISA warrants, etc.

The opinion piece relies on ignorance of all the facts to portray a specific narrative. Facts we do not necessarily have, yet would make a world of difference when discussing something like this in context.

Why would you a hard leftie even consider defending teh FBI and the CIA and the DOJ????

Dont you guys hate them? How can all of you do a compete 180 on the alphabet agencies ?

I have my own personal opinion about things.

I understand that you and others tend to use group-think and have a hard time grasping indipendant thought, but it does exist.

So you trust the FBI and the CIA?

It doesn't matter what I tell you.

Finally you figured out that

My stance on the FBI CIA has never changed. Unlike you loony lefties..

I did not ask you if your stance has changed, nor did I claim it did.

In fact, I did not ask you how you felt about the FBI/CIA to begin with.

You just tihnk they are trust worthy as long as they are against Trump..

My position on the FBI/CIA has nothing to do with Trump, nor does it have anything to do with your ignorant assumptions.

You are not fooling anybody..

I wasn't trying to.

You say some very stupid things.

Perhaps there is no fooling a fool.

No. I've known for some time that facts and context does not matter to the ignorant.

You have your preconceived notions and biases, and there is nothing that will sway you from that path.

You elaborate too much this thing .

I voted for Trump and support him because we can't put America in the hands of people like you.

That's it. No bias.

Exactly, this should not be a partisan politics casualty. When you accept it because it benefits your side today remember the tables will turn tomorrow and it will be your acceptance that allowed it to happen.

To the simple minded, I'm sure it does seem elaborate.

That's it? You voted for Trump out of fear and not because of his policy ideas?

That explains quite a bit.

I'd almost feel sorry for you, if you didn't make such choices out of your own willful ignorance.

If you want to stop the abuse stop blaming a party and start looking at voting records on surveillance laws and start voting the lawmakers out and outing them on twitter.

SPOT ON!!

I can put aside my disdain for the far-left in order to save the Republic from the police/surveillance state TPTB wish to impose on us against our sovereign will.

We need to take out the DEEPSTATE trash, then we can worry about resolving our left vs. right differences (even if it is just by agreeing to disagree, pledging non-aggression, pledging non-interference)

This is much easier to do when you don't pledge allegiance to a party or a leader. But rather abandon identity politics and make judgements on individual behavior.

For instance surveillance laws have expanded under Trump as they did the last two administrations. The people calling out the deep state in the main stream are often players themselves. Sort of controlled opposition.

The evil Democrats on the ground are getting screwed the same as the rest of us. This sort of thing erodes the very principles the country was founded on -- the idea that you and I and those evil democrats who are your neighbors are the ones in charge, not the people in Washington. But this is uncovering a whole stinking mess that shows they're manuevering to make sure it's otherwise.

It doesn't matter how much you and I and everyone else here doesn't agree at this point, or at least, it shouldn't. This should expose that if the forces at work have their way, nothing you or I believe actually matters because we never have the chance to call the shots.

Now plenty of us feel like it's been this way for a while, sure, but this should be hard proof that maybe it's not as crystallized as some of us think. There might be hope, but we need to set aside our differences long enough to wake up and take out the trash at the top in order to take control of our destinies again. Once we do that, then we can get back to fighting over who uses what bathroom and all that other stuff that seems to all-consuming to the tribes.

So you want everyone to unite and overthrow the government. Cool. What would you want to replace it with?

If that's what you read, then you are living in a fantasy world. Generally, that's the leftist position because our current system is an abortion designed by old, dead, white men who owned slaves which means that it's inherently white oppressive and keeps all POCs and womyn down just be existing. Go find an SJW who will sympathize.

What I believe I said was that we need to recognize is that our tribal infighting over who gets to dye their hair and wear the belly button ring has allowed the powers at the top to attempt to take control because we've stopped paying attention to them. There are ways to restore it without overthrowing it, but it requires an active, involved citizenry more concerned with what they're doing than what their neighbor is currently wearing or how they're praying.

I agree ketsuko. In fact outside of universities I find it hard to find "evil" democrats. Which leads me to believe this is a media driven division.

My neighbor with a budha statue and sign for a democratic local rep in his yard has his 12 year old daughter mowing yards to save for a car. We all have certain areas we cross over with one another in many cases.

I see a ray of hope in the 1st, 4th, and tenth amendment to help combine liberals and conservatives of the libertarian non authoritarian persuasion to have discussions. This is how Ben Shapiro can talk and have civil debate with Sam Harris or Eric Weinstein.

This new "intellectual dark web" has millions of followers so I have hope the left and right libertarians or non authoritarians are having meaningful debates.

Hopefully we can get away from the worst D&D game ever played where victamology points are what get you through the game. Surely snuffing out public policy discrimination doesn't include identity politics as a way forward. Whether it's Transgender or religious. We need to focus on actual behaviour merit. Not identity through birth traits.

My biggest fear is that nationalism and socialism combine from the fringes of the authoritarian left and right and create momentum. Nationalism and socialism share many beliefs on the role of government on the market and society.

She was replying to me. It seems obvious she was using sarcasm in terms of calling regular people evil. In my post I was doing the same. Pointing out tribalism. A lot of us have had enough. I believe she was not actually calling democrats evil but pointing out how we are supposed to view different points of view in identity politics.

In another incredible coincidence, Fusion GPS had hired scholar and professor Nellie Ohr as a “paid Russian expert.” Nellie Ohr happens to be married to Bruce Ohr, deputy attorney general in the Justice Department. Bruce Ohr is alleged to have passed his wife’s anti-Trump research to the FBI. He was demoted for failing to disclose not only his wife’s employment with Fusion GPS, but also his own meetings with Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson.

The FISA court was never told any of that.

Regardless of your view on Trump or your political persuasion this attack on American democracy should have you livid. The swamp must be drained. Don't let this stand because of your hatred.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Like giving billions of tax dollars to farmers to support a nationalistic mercantilist foreign policy?
