It's hard to pick out a square, though, since it pops up in so many different contexts. There's a huge cross shape created by the windows themselves, with the square smack dab in the middle of the nested shapes. Was that intentional, or just something that happened because the way the window was built? I assume it was intentional. Nobody puts that much effort into symbology without taking a step back and looking at the overall context.

Yes because the square is generally seen offset 45 degrees, which is it's natural position above Pisces and the horizon, in fact as the equinox has progressed through Pisces it's passed from one corner of the square to the other, think Merkel hand gesture.

if I had any shred of artistic talent at all, this is the kind of stuff I'd do to f# with the conspiracy theorists' heads.

Whoever did it is very talented and should at LEAST be applauded, it's excellent detail in the work.
