first off......

how?

second off....why?

ask any "god" following christian/jew/catholic ect...... why or how god could have, or still does exist.....no asnwer.........can anyone out there explain to me why they think god exists...and if so, why does he create bad things to corrupt the good?...........what is god?......

in my oppinion, he is just an "uncle sam" type of person.....a spokesman if you will, for good and proper behavior....religion is to tie one down to morals and such.....but why do so many believe in the second coming (can anyone fill me in on that also, what exactly is the second coming) and why is god so controversial?

the only part of the question i can answer for sure is why god is so controversial. the reason for that is because you have to just accept god with no evidence whatsoever, and not a lot of people are willing to do this.

The belief in God is that there is some kind of Intelligence out there that created existence.

The why

One reason people believe in god is to explain away all that humanity does not understand to make the world explainable.

Another reason the one I subscribe to is that the universe is to complex, to amazing, to wonderers to simply be explained by random occurrence.

The question of morality is simply human, Morality is a human concept created by people. To apply it something so beyond us that it unimaginable, is naïve.

If there were no bad things in life, then how would we know what the good things are? If matter can neither be created nor destroyed, then how could the universe have come into existance? Ever since humans have become highly evolved, we have always believed in higher powers, spirits, gods, and life after death. Spirituality is a natural part of our existance, and it probably will be for the rest of our existance.

The second coming is where jesus(god) will come back to the earth one last time to destroy satan and evil, destroy earth, and take his followers to heaven for eternity. Many people believe in the second coming because they believe in the bible and what it says.

God is controversial because many people have different views on him/her/it. For example, three major religions, Christianity, Islam, Judaism all believe in the same god, but they believe that they have been given information by god and that it is their duty to use that information as a guide for their lives. When a follower of one of these religions hears something different than what they have been taught their whole life, they become offended and feel the need to make sure that the other person hears what god has told them, and that they practice what god has told him. It's been going on for a couple of millenia.

Ever try to have a discussion on "what is art?" or trying to define the human soul? Or asking "Why am I here" these are questions that humans have been trying to figure out ever since there was language. Greek philosephers would spend WEEKS and possibly months discussing the subject.

But to some, God is not just a symbol, such as uncle sam, or rosie the riviter. Nor is he a figure of folklore such as paul bunyan, Pecos bill, or john Henry.

The differance is that God has a plan for us after death, and all He asks in return is for you to belive. Non of those symbols, or heros from folklore say the same. In fact, if you follow martin Luthers teachings, God is the only one that does not require people to do anyhting to earn salvation.

topsloth22 you obviosuly have a lot of questions, but there are other things you should learn about christianity before you every start worriing about the second coming, or the day of redemtion

put it this way....

blablablabla....a baby is born.....

if you took that child, wether it be male or female, and kept it away from anything religous or anyone telling it about religion, ALL its life only teaching it school tought subjects (so its smart enough to live normaly) but not telling ti ANYTHING about any god or anything of that nature........do you think one day that child would suddenly go "i think something "above" me created me".....not at all....this is why i say that God or Jesus is an "uncle sam" type of person....without having a face to put behind, the bible is no more than smart words.....

just as if i were to tell you dont j-walk......smart words right......but have a cop tell you...and you tend to follow the rules more closely.....jesus is just a face to put authority into the bible....and the ticket for j-walking would be the same as going to hell for sinning.......this is why i do not believe in god......just a symbol for good manners.....

can anyone comment on that? (not meant to picking a fight)

Why am I here? What happens when I die? These are things that are unknown, and can never be proven. Nobody can tell you what happens when they die, because- they would be dead. The child you mention might very well one day ask these very questions. I believe that such a line of questions start once the population starts getting civilised (the Greeks) or when they are in times of trouble. In this way, you could consider "Luck" as a kind of God. There are many situations that go differently no matter what the criteria. For example in a fight. No matter how powerful the other side, there is ALWAYS a chance that you just MIGHT win. No matter how excellent an omlette you make, there is always a chance that you might burn your next one. This is attributed to chance, or luck-no physical criteria determine this.

topsloth, actaully people do have the natural urge to find a higher power. Some turn to philosphy, others turn to worship, and some turn inwards. Hopfully they hae the intelligance to find the right way.. if there is one. Ever wonder how baby sea turtles find a home? or salmon swim upstrea? same thing applies to religious belief.

only 4% of the world is complelty athesit, but mainly it is more of an "Anti-religion" then a belief system
