I recall the old conservative concern that the US needed to fight globalism. That we should take care of ourselves and not the world. That we should depend upon our own manufacturing and export export export.
Globalists are international corporations. For decades they built their wealth based on simple factors. Manufacture as cheaply as possible and push all the sales they could upon the American consumer. That was the role the American public played in the international market place for most of our lives. The American consumer would buy just about any cheap trinket and bauble that sparkled for them. The American public were a cog in this wheel.

We lived high on the hog, buying inexpensive clothes and toys and things that were based on the exploitative wages and work conditions of other countries and made those international corporations rich. Now they no longer need American consumers. We are being tossed under the bus by these cabals and Trump will not save us. He will jocky and squirm to cut out as much of a piece of the pie for himself and his companies as he can as the international economic conditions continue to evolve into a one world economic structure resembling the feudal systems of the past.

We need to understand that corporations follow the path of highest profit. How the hell did it ever come to making things on the other side of the planet the cheapest method? If we do not control that current then manufacturing goes to China, and of course China been manipulating that for many decades to make it happen.

As you said, we pay cheap prices on the blood and sweat of others without a care as long as we get my consumer products. IF we made it cheaper to have things produced here at home BUT cost goes up a little it is still the path of highest profit and manufacturing comes home.

The US had it good for a decade or so after WWII. The rest of the industrialized world was decimated while third world countries were still agricultural. Corporations in the US produced for the entire world. With all the post war work available in the here, US workers could shop around for higher paying jobs and form unions to strike for better wages and conditions.

Slowly the corporations from the US began to seek lower costs and much of that came at the expense of workers wages and conditions in plants overseas, that and other foreign manufacturing picking up the slack.

Those high wages in the US continued even as manufacturing declined and went off shore, hence that period where high wages at home meant excess cash to by the cheap good from abroad.

And yes, China exploited that gap. So many still think that China is a communist country. To me even if they ever were what they are now is one big corporation with central planning all under the auspicious of Xi as CEO

I think one of our big mistakes was believing that American corporations were loyal to America, that they held the same principles as we Americans did. Buy American for one. Those American corporations tossed that one away long ago and we are paying for it now.

Corps are non-emphatic that follow the river current of profit. Change the current and they mindlessly change, doesn't matter if the profit is more or less as long as it is the highest at that point in time. So the ones to blame is just ourselves for letting China control the current.

After Fukashima, they shut down all of their nuclear reactors. Solar and wind energies are interruptable power sources, so you cannot count on them, in the dead of winter.

Me thinks that the Germans are counting on Poland to act as their shield, if Russian Troops come out of Russia, proper.

Two years ago this month, my wife and I did the Romantic Danube Cruise, and all of the solar panels were on the South Facing banks of the Danube. About zip, facing the River, on the North facing bank. Draw a line on a Europa Carte west from the Danube, near Nuremberg, across Germany, and you should see this demarcation line. Westphalia doesn't have any mountains between the German Coastlines and the Winter Storms in the North Atlantic, so like in the Battle of the Bulge, they can count on weeks of socked in cloud cover. I.E. no solar, and the wind farms will struggle to keep their customers from freezing to death, just like our G.I.'s. If Russia shuts down their energy pipelines, at the right moment, then the Germans are up the creek. If they had kept their coal mines and some nuclear power plants, they could tell Putin to go to Hellee.

Nah... The Germans only get about 60% of their natural gas from Russia and natural gas only amounts to about 13% of their total electricity production.... 43% of their electricity production still comes from coal with Nuclear at about 13%.
