I thought this was fake news, but there are many sources reporting it. Denmark has herded its immigrant population into "ghettos" (their government's term, not mine) and is fixing to impose some pretty harsh laws. For instance, kids over 1 year of age will have to undergo 25 hours of Danish history and customs so as to be more integrated into society.

Here is the thing, if this was the US....would this not be considered a far-right indoctrination camp? Bernie Sanders held Denmark up as a poster of Socialism.

Denmark is conservative for a Nordic country, when it comes to immigrants. They aren't nearly as careless as Sweden,I believe. But they do have a lot of socialism.

Something different in every country

In America, we take kids and force then to go to schools and they will be taught values and morals to be integrated into society.

Anything people don't like is the opposite spectrum. An example: Obama separates family, it's cool. Trump does it, its fascist.

Apparently the Danes care about their welfare state so much that they are willing to take some authoritarian measures in order to protect it.

The terms left and right had nothing to do with political ideology.

When it was created it was seating arrangements.

It has since been bastardized.

A liberal isn't liberal.

A conservative isn't conservative.

Big mistake trying to apply American politics to European countries.

They drive on the wrong side of the road over there.

They say we drive on the wrong side of the road here.

First off Fox is not conservative they are a neo con far right pro propaganda network

True conservatism is really preservation of the constitution and bill of rights and liberalism is freedom

If I were you I would look into their origins and ignore the modern right vs left paradigm

I thought it was a metaphor for the political differences. Maybe I am giving too much credit.

Kids from 1 to maybe 4 years of age won't remember a dang thing. Forcing kids older than that is likely to create resistance.

It's the parents that need to be integrated, which then passes on to the kids.

That said, mandatory classes are big government. It depends on what type of conservatism you are referring to. Typical European politics are pro-government no matter which side of the aisle it is on.

In America I don't find any requirements/mandatory government class but if an immigrant wants to be naturalized they must show proficiency with English via an exam and be able to pass a history/civics test.

In Denmark they actually drive on the right side of the road like we do here in the US.

Map showing most of the world drives on Right side of road

Beginning at the age of 1, “ghetto children” must be separated from their “ghetto parents” for 25 hours per week for mandatory instruction in so-called “Danish values,” which includes learning about the language and the traditions of Christmas and Easter, The New York Times reported.

Yearh.. its called kindergarden, muslims tend to keep their kids home because they do not want them to mengle with the non-muslims

Well presented thank you.

I've always considered Denmark to be a fairly 'Right/Nationalistic' country.

But it really doesn't have anything to do with the Liberal/Conservative construct especially since Denmark is also very socially liberal.

See the below chart:

With it's two axes and four quadtrants. I would put Denmark in the lower right quadrant Right - Libertarian.

You can learn more about the 'political' compass at:

www.politicalcompass.org...

This has been around quite a while and there are newer and perhaps more accurate typologies, this is a good place to start. There is even a test you can take of your own Left-Right (economic) Libertarian-Authorian (social) leanings.

I disagree slightly....as I think a lot of morals and values are formed at home first. Schokl certainly can shape some people...but it is more of tye peer group one attaches themselves to rather than what school teaches.

Socialism is considered liberal. Danes all pay 50% of their wages in order to maintain their social benefits structure. I think it al kills the notion of what is left/right.....as defined in the US anyway.

I agree in that news orgs are corporate controlled, for profit, businesses. My OP is a tad tongue in cheek. I know the american labels....but its nice to contrast it with what goes on elsewhere.

I find that a lot here in the UK. The wives are not alowed out in public often....and then are fully veiled. The girls are not allowed out at all and the boys are restricted. I can sorta see why....lots of poles and gippos around....lola reply to: Spacespider
