Dwelling on the "End Times" is really a self-fulfilling prophecy.

It means you have given up trying to correct the problems of the world and are ok with non-reality excuses as justification of your failure to contribute to a better world.

If enough people adopt this attitude, then the evil wins because we collectively allowed it.

Yes but you can't fight prophetic destiny from God, it will happen, and nobody in this universe can stop it, even God himself will not call an audible at the last minute and change it, because he already looked into the future and saw it happen, it's as good as historical fact even though it hasn't happened yet.

But I agree with you that dwelling on the negative aspects of these can be very depressing.....who wants to think about billions of people dying in the final judgment.

But what follows the destruction of Iran is what's concerning.

Whereas the geographical area of Iran was once a world power the Medes and Persians, their playing on the world scene as a world power of significance has passed. In the 21 century everything has to do with the king of the north and the king of the south as they are in 2023 presently.

If the prophesies of Daniel are doing a full repeat as I think they are then I have an alternate view of the toes.

They are not nations. They're tribes of Israel. The 10 lost tribes that scattered to the world that scattered to the world after the diaspora.

Per the prophesies of Genesis 48 and 49 they were all predicted to become nations except Ephraim. Which is supposed to be a company of nations. That way the kingdom of the south can have many more nations than ten. And the feet? One foot is in Europe. The other is in N. America.

That is an interesting way of looking at the two feet, and from certain point of view it would be correct, Britain is a European player, but they also like their independence, they have aligned themselves with America for over a hundred years now, basically since America joined them in WW1.
Their unique bonds of language and ancestry has surpassed the fight they had when they split up in 1776.

No. Who needs the real world?

People are wired for abstraction. Superstition is as ingrained as Semitic genetic memory to be frugal and prepared to have to leave really fast.

Simpler put, why do people check horoscopes, use divination, believe in synchronicity, divine intervention, prayer, and magic?

People are predisposed and culturally indoctrinated to look up instead of within when confronting the scary and unknown. So much so it's committed to our genes. The mind has an almost 'bicameral' tendency to conflate emotional situations with divinity.

A person in the most trying and tenuous of situations, one with no apparent solution, will almost always look to psychodrama to gain strength from any unproven idea they like, and it will give them hope.

The footprints guy asked God why he wasn't there when he was needed most. The predisposition of genetic memory part is acknowledgement of the time God was needed most.

Same thing with eschatology. The tendency to pray at most distraught or insecure times is the tendency to line up real world events with a higher power and prophecy.

Nostradamus was just trying to call The Spanish Inquisition and Vatican (in his own time) The Antichrist and people still can line up his deliberately vague political commentary with recent events.

As long as faith based religion is a thing, and a way to move through life, people flocking to prophecy isn't going anywhere.

What if TPTB read the bible prophecy too? What if they used these to manipulate the masses? What if they started wars, caused starvation, and unleashed plagues?

What if?

It's always been a burning question in my mind.

They wish to give meaning to their lives?

There are times where they are spontaneously liberated from such views, without having to do anything about it. Some never need to make an effort to abandon religions, they dissipated on their own and didn't leave a bitter aftertaste in their mouth. From a karmic pov, if they transmitted harmful superstition to others, then they must be made to undergo it themselves.

It's perfectly natural for people to turn heavenward when science and reason fails to give an account for the how and why. This tendency did not arise from education, habit, and genes.

The Antichrist in Nostradamus' dictionary is certainly not a political institution, it's plainly indicated in his letter to King Henry II as a warlord/conqueror (Xerxes, Attila) and situated in the context of Christ's return.

Yes, there's a mania to link them up with recent events, but there's also a mania to render them as already long fulfilled. People forget that he wrote that they were perpetual prophecies, with more than one meaning. They show little interest in his views/ideas and blatantly disregard for the French language. James Randi did more good than the majority of Nostradamus translators, paying respectful deference despite his skepticism.

Why did a great man like Goethe (a pioneer in science, contributing to evolutionary theory long before Darwin and producing groundbreaking research on colors, which was appreciated by Schopenhauer) come to regard Nostradamus as his guide (in Faust)?

The only thing of interest to me was the listed order of Russia's invasion, with Georgia and Moldova coming first. As well as these two scenarios he shared with me:

When it comes to prophesying, there must be a certain degree of ambiguity/vagueness included. Excess details/getting lost in details disturb true insight. One raises their expectations and becomes disappointed when it doesn't happen. Then they forget about it as a "failed" prediction, overlooking that events can be delayed, forestalled, takes a while to reach that point in time. It's necessary to factor in multiple possibilities, not only the most probable outcome. The future is like the human hand, among the five fingers, there are three scenarios most likely to occur. My associate on this forum had good reason to offer three outcomes for the Ukraine conflict.

Sorry to ruin the ending of your Christian book; But that dude Jesus dies. But hey in another religious book with him in it... By the people that killed him called Catholics? They are like really happy to have his forgiveness for it.

Actually that's not how the book ends. The ending of the book has Jesus Christ returning as a all powerful god along with his father. And they are going to live in a New Jerusalem which appears to be a utopia.

Oh and the predicted date for that would be around April of 3033 AD.

He's just a guru with worshipers... If he continues on the path he is said to have been on? Then He won't have any 'return'. Heaven is impermanent the more children, slaves and cattle one has the longer such a thing lasts... But it is still impermanent.

It is best to think of heaven as a happy bee hive hunting and gathering all they like and want in order to make their soma... If anything hits or interferes with that hive? Then it's war.

That's how all of them 'work' through a yogic path of devotion. Seeing impermanence arise their firmament shakes and for fear of falling scramble.

One can achieve all of that without the belief in a god or a guru that's going to save you or take you to heaven or keep you out of hell it isn't as easy as getting to heaven through a path of servitude and devotion so many people just skip it and go the route of faith instead.

The fact that so many in positions of power believe this crap is precisely what terrifies me. Take Reagan, for instance. In addition to horoscopes, he based much of his policy on apocalyptic thought. ( His particular breed of Conservative "Christianity" also lead to a horrifying number of Americans dying while he made jokes, but that's another thread entirely.) It horrifies me that so many willingly turn off their brains and allow Stone Age superstition to rule their lives, and by extension, ours. There has to be a better way.

And now Israel is under attack from Hamas and Hezbollah. Both being Iranian puppets. American forces being deployed to the middle east. Is it time?
