I just saw this on tv.
Melanie is in Texas visiting a detention center. Right now she's with some teens.
I think she speaks spanish.
This is a very good thing.
Wonder if trump will too.

WASHINGTON – First lady Melania Trump is visiting a migrant child shelter in Texas on Thursday making the surprise visit to Texas the day after President Donald Trump reversed his policy of separating children from parents crossing the border either illegally or seeking asylum.

A statement from Mrs. Trump’s communications director, issued after Mrs. Trump was already in McAllen, Texas, said she made the trip “to take part in briefings and tours at a nonprofit social services center for children who have entered the United States illegally and a customs and border patrol processing center. Her goals are to thank law enforcement and social services providers for their hard work, lend support and hear more on how the administration can build upon the already existing efforts to reunite children with their families.”

I really figured it was only a matter of time before she got involved. And good on her as she too is an immigrant as well as a mother. She needed her movement and her platform and maybe this is it.

I don't think anyone including Donald Trump wants to see people who attempt to enter this country legally treated as criminals. I don't think Trump who is a father himself and husband to an immigrant wants to see their families broken up.

Fact is this is a political football being tossed back and forth while real changes need to be made to immigration. Fact is there are A LOT of people taking advantage of America's milk and honey and lawmakers need to correct this and make changes.

While the law has been in place for a while Trump and his family are showing their compassion and maybe will get a break they so deserve in the eyes of the MSM. Although I don't like him attempting to use an EO to cover for the job law makers on both sides should be doing.

This is a very good thing. But if they knew ahead of time everyone knows that that place will be in tip top order. What I would like to see is her or Trump go live and make a surprise visit with no one knowing ahead of time. But I doubt something like has ever happened. But still good for her.

I really have respect for her. The amount of underserved abuse she and her child have had to endure is unbelievable. I expected her to visit the detention centers at some point, good for her.

I agree with you, but I doubt this is possible due to the security arrangements that must be made ahead of time.

Part of the EO stated money would be allocated to build or improve facilities. Hopefully she will spend enough time there to make sure these immigrants know that regardless of whether we can grant them legal entry or not that we care about their wellbeing.

While she is a polyglot, Spanish is not one of the languages in which she is fluent:

I didn’t even think about the security aspect. But yes hopefully and I am sure she will show the children that we do care. I also really hope they have an education program that can help the kids and parents to know how to do what they did but in a legal way. And I also hope that they spread that info to friends and family as to not see them end up making the journey only to be detained. It is sad but the law is the law.

I already did and it's not proof of anything. These detention centres are extremely high security to begin with.

I'm not saying that it was a surprise visit or not but the possibility is not that far fetched.

Again, assumptions are just assumptions.

Remember that Senator who recently went to have a look? He got turned away by security. Maybe Melania wanted to see what would happen if she turned up unannounced. Just a thought.

Quick, stuff all those separated kids over here into that crate over there, she'll be here any minute!
