We do care about children and the poor in America. That's why we argue for welfare, food stamps, and other government safety nets. It's why we argue for more money to go to programs in poor neighborhoods that help kids there. It's why we fight for higher minimum wage, so poor parents can feed their kids and have some kind of home for them. It's why we argue for free higher education, so less fortunate kids can attend. We argue for some type of gun legislation so kids don't have to worry about getting shot at in their schools.

These are things we've always fought for and brought attention to, and its all things conservatives are against.

Increased welfare and as you put it, more government safety nets. Free higher education, increased minimum wage. These things don't help the poor. They perpetuate it.

That's your opinion, which you are free to have of course. My point is, we liberals think about the poor children in America all the time.

I'm sure you and many others do. Those political leaders and partisan talking heads however only do when there is a political lever to pull.

Politicians will be politicians no matter which side of the aisle they're on.

I just want to know, when will the democrats be coming to visit THESE people for a photo op? They could use some help too.

When will the Republicans be coming to visit them? Probably the same time the Dems show up.

Nobody wants to acknowledge the fact that America is crumbling from the inside, at the base...and we're too busy playing partisan and "OMG your president did this" to figure out how to fix the mess we made.

(Nice try at the propaganda tho)

What? you don't like it when someone uses the same rhetoric against your rhetoric? Shocking.

SO you are just going to avoid answering the question as well? Again deflection. Your position would stand up better if you were capable of defending it with valid answers to inquires.

But but what about the children of Chicago? Why don't you care about them? See how that works? Who knew that there was a choice that had to be made, that a person can only care about one issue and caring about more than one thing is done so at the detriment of all others?

When you raise awareness of cancer is that the same thing as ignoring heart disease? And why should we concern ourselves with murder when disease kills so many more people?

Most importantly, why haven't you posted this before today if this was something you're personally passionate about?

This is ridiculous. "A person can only care about one issue" and "caring about more than one thing is done so at the detriment of all others."

That is some of the most idiotic deflection you have ever spewed. Maybe YOU are only capable of caring for one thing at a time, and if that's the case, that is your problem but don't assume everyone else is so incredibly limited.

How does anyone survive in a family of more than one child? Holy crap I guess I must have been super lucky to make it out alive because there are FOUR kids in my family! And get this- I have a TWIN brother! Yes, that's right: my mom had to care for TWO babies at a time (plus the other two). I guess my family is the anomaly then? Or what?

You're just using that ridiculous deflection because you don't want to address the OP's very valid point.

Of course a country can handle more than one issue at a time. Are you kidding me? I know you are not stupid. So the only thing that makes sense of your wacky assertion is that you simply can't handle addressing anything that challenges your political views.

I don't wish to be unkind but I believe the expression is 'woosh'.

That was exactly the point being made.

Omg. Blushing here. "Woosh" doesn't even cover it.

I don't know what's worse...that I didn't realize he was being sarcastic, or that I agree with him.

There is definitely a need universally accepted sarcasm emoji.

Forgive me if I sometimes doubt that...

I don't mean my neighbor across the street who volunteers his time when ever he can at the Homeless Center, or the Foodbank, etc...

I mean our so called leaders, y'know, the ones we elect to deal with this sort of thing... I see a lot of "not my fault" stuff from all sides of what ever the issue is...

I am sorry but if that's the case, why do the democrats champion globalization? Why did the Clintons pass NAFTA, why did Hillary want to push the TPP? These are all trade agreements that among other things, hurt American children, eliminate jobs and break apart families. Not to mention globalist corporations overseas use child labor. For caring about Americans so much, they have never missed out on an opportunity to stick a knife in the backs of the working class. Say what you want about the republicans, but the dems are SUPPOSED to be for the working people of this country. I have yet to see it in 30 years now.
