Dear Dems, When do THESE people get compassion?

I have been watching the recent barrage of news about the things going on at the border. On the onset I want to say I feel for these people, this is not an attack against the refugees who are fleeing Mexico and central America for various reasons, many valid ones. I am not even against helping them. but I am wondering why there is such an outpouring of compassion for them but almost none for our own people in our own country. If we help people on the border, we should help our own people as well at the same time. So, since you probably wont see videos outlining THAT, I decided to post some myself. Its ok to show compassion, but don't forget your own countrymen in the process. I have seen democratic politicians showing up to address the border issues, funny though I have never seen anything on the news about the following:




















I just want to know, when will the democrats be coming to visit THESE people for a photo op? They could use some help too.

But but what about the children of Chicago? Why don't you care about them? See how that works? Who knew that there was a choice that had to be made, that a person can only care about one issue and caring about more than one thing is done so at the detriment of all others?

When you raise awareness of cancer is that the same thing as ignoring heart disease? And why should we concern ourselves with murder when disease kills so many more people?

Most importantly, why haven't you posted this before today if this was something you're personally passionate about?

I think we all know the answer to this. People on ATS only care about things when the media tells them to, only when the MSM brings up a certain "issue" does ATS begin to talk about it.

I have been passionate about if for years, I do volunteer work and donate to charity. I posted this today because I am sick to death about hearing how bad people crossing the border have it when our own people go ignored as largely a non issue. That has to end. What have you done? Do you care about your own countrymen, or only refugees?

He is talking about those kids as well. I believe the premises of the OP to be is that if you cannot take care of the people already under your leadership, how hypocritical it is for the left to say we should take care of illegal immigrants before legal citizens. Charity begins at home. Once your own house is clean, then you can start helping whomever you can.

Thank you, that is EXACTLY what I meant. I am totally for helping poverty issues in Chicago, and as soon as we straighten that out we can start helping people on the border. But to embrace one and totally ignore the other is what has got me miffed.

That is some of the most idiotic deflection you have ever spewed. Maybe YOU are only capable of caring for one thing at a time, and if that's the case, that is your problem but don't assume everyone else is so incredibly limited.

How does anyone survive in a family of more than one child? Holy crap I guess I must have been super lucky to make it out alive because there are FOUR kids in my family! And get this- I have a TWIN brother! Yes, that's right: my mom had to care for TWO babies at a time (plus the other two). I guess my family is the anomaly then? Or what?

You're just using that ridiculous deflection because you don't want to address the OP's very valid point.

Of course a country can handle more than one issue at a time. Are you kidding me? I know you are not stupid. So the only thing that makes sense of your wacky assertion is that you simply can't handle addressing anything that challenges your political views.

I seriously doubt that, otherwise if it was true, you'd recognize the heavy resistance from the Republicans, such as preventing so much as adequate hunger prevention & healthcare, in helping the most blighted areas of the country like Appalachia. You only need to look as far as threads on ATS for proof that as far as a conservative is concerned, those generational dirt poor folks did it to themselves and aren't getting any government help, period. They don't deserve help, hell, they probably don't pay taxes, so why should they get to dip their fingers in the collective pot at all. THAT is not a leftwing mindset.
Few Democrats, and even fewer from alternate parties, play the blame game that lowbrow. Reassess who your brick walls really are, and alter your thread title accordingly.

You seriously doubt that? Really? Are you psychic or something? Why do you doubt it, do you know me? As other posters have observed, this is simply another deflection attempt. Discredit the poster to discredit their assertion. I am perfectly willing to discuss the republicans shortfalls, but the purpose of my post is that I want an answer as to why democrats seem to care more about illegal immigrants than the American people. Why are they putting this issue first? Answer the question.

Nobody wants to acknowledge the fact that America is crumbling from the inside, at the base...and we're too busy playing partisan and "OMG your president did this" to figure out how to fix the mess we made.

Children have always been used for the 'appeal' factor .....


They are used by companies to promote sales of products,


They are used by their own families for extra sympathy as in this case.


I have seen them used for begging.... skinny gypsy kids with big eyes herded

by mothers around the out door cafes in Italy ..... A mother with a dead

infant holding out her free hand for money in India..... and as in these case's

hoping for a more favorable outcome to their appeal for asylum by having

children in tow.
