Hey Metallicus, just a quick question if I may. What if you view religion as a corrupter of the soul? If you think that organized religion is harmful to people and this world would be better off with a new ideology to make us noble again, would you be betraying yourself in not saying anything?

Would it be better to keep the opinions to yourself and let people suffer needlessly or try and enlighten people so they would have the possibility of a more serene life?

Honest question. I have been struggling with this one.

Lol faith is by definition ridiculous..

That doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong,

Faith means believing in something without evidence.

“You don’t need to have evidence. You just gotta have faith.”

So by definition faith is believing I something ridiculous...

If it wasn’t ridiculous then it wouldn’t require faith to believe in it..

Jesus was a really good guy all joking aside. I wonder why people feel the need to slander him. Not necessarily this professor, as I don’t think accusing someone of being transgender should be considered derogatory but it seems people are still trying to degrade him for some reason. Peace, love, compassion, humility, forgiveness, charity... are we not all striving for the same?

Isn't it ironic?

The leftists that use transgender as a slur against Jesus would probably be the same ones marching in support if it were anyone else.

You didn’t make a point..

You made the vague claim that some leftist illuminati is erasing history with exactly zero examples or points to refute..

You just said the equivalent of “big foot is real, so refute my point”..

Saying “Bigfoot is real “ isn’t a point lol..

Saying “the leftist illuminati is erasing history “ isn’t a point ..

It is a BS accusation without any point.. or any offender lol..

Because “the left” isn’t a person.

I don’t think the professor is using it as a slur..

To a conservative it is inherently a slur because the mainstream conservative position is to believe they are an abomination living in sin..

If you don’t think that then it isn’t inherently a slur.

That’s why I wrote not necessarily this professor. But I do smell a mild hint of agenda in the pareidolia of this professor and his accusations. It doesn’t offend me but it’s quite the stretch and in my mind illogical based on the writings that inspired his idea.

For instance, Liew stated that in his Gospel, Saint John makes very clear that Jesus is a Jew but he is less clear about “whether Jesus is a biological male.”

I am less certain if the Gospel was entirely written by the apostle John.

Hopefully I’ll get a participation trophy so i can feel special. I would love to see a church full of trans folk singing hymns, praying, and speaking in tongues so maybe this could be a good thing for heaven. A little diversity ya know?

*shrugs*

Not that religious.

But to each there own. I say treat people on individual merits and stop trying to insert identity politics into religion.

In the end, it's Jesus's message that is important. But of course there will be those that think the envelope is more important than the letter.

To each their own. Agreed. I might not participate in certain things but I won’t deny people the right to do wtf they want. Last year I stumbled upon the Folsom Street fair. Not my thing but I say have at it if it tickles your fancy

The link doesn't seem to work
The whole theory is based on what ifs'
Washing feet was a common sign of respect in that culture, it wasn't sexual
Jesus was a male, it's very clear

The bible isn't meant to be read through a gender kens, it's a spiritual book

If people want to call Christ gay i know He wasn't so it's not a big issue to me
if people can make Christ gay then all gays are acceptable, make him a conservative and all Christians will vote conservative.

Problem is you can't make Jesus what you want, He was a servant who died for people who didn't deserve His self dying for them
Jesus died for Christians, mostly the most horrible people on earth

I'd be careful with your circular logic there.

I'll bet you have faith in more than you know, and you may very well have called some things near and dear to you ridiculous in this post, but that's what happens when people spout off without a real understanding of the words they are using.

My husband was a Seminary candidate, yea-far from it. Luckily chose another path in life at the last second. Good thing he did, I strongly doubt he'd have been happy as a celibate Father for his whole life, dude's a family man.

Anyway, keeping his former ambitions in mind, he's extremely well-read as far as the bible goes. Even the pastor at the church around the corner strongly applauds his knowledge, even if he doesn't believe it anymore (they've had some friendly debates/examinations of passages, both walked away with smiles & an adjusted POV)

He's utterly convinced through and through Jesus was gay AF. Even Mr Pastor agrees it's at least plausible given the era & expectations of Jesus as a man versus what Jesus actually did.
