Let's say I propose here ATS funding to be changed from add-funding to member support!

I would gladly subscribe and let away from my pocket 10£ per month to see these adds ibb.co... gone into the past.

Would other members follow me in this?

...and yes, I know about addblockers and such

Charge a penny for each political post. Funding problem solved. You're welcome.

There is a crypto called BAT (Basic Attention Token)

its designed by the guy who created firefox and java script.

They aim to take out the middle man of advertising.

You download their browser, which is amazing by the way, and can tip your favorite websites in BAT you acquire for paying attention to ads. This incentivizes advertisers to make better ads (so people dont skip them), and viewers to watch them because they get paid.

You can choose what sites you want to donate to automatically each month.

It seems like an awesome project if it can work. They've already partnered with the DOW jones basicattentiontoken.org...

I don't understand how advertisers even make money from the add's most people block them and the rest never click on them ..

We'd lose input. The shills wouldn't go any either. My support of ATS is based on the potential it offers of alternate news that is restricted or delayed by the MSM, first and foremost.

Many of the threads, especially in the political realm have far better access to documentation than we average types will ever develop or clear MSM guidelines.

The downside is ATS is more restrictive than even Facebook. I'm a marginally pro-ATS member. Honestly, I'd be marginally anti with a fee.

Look at this way. Companies do not make money off of television adds either. But they get there name out there and gain new customers. I recently bought a laser light that I noticed on an ATS add. It is actually really cool! I set fire to a piece of paper with it

I don't use an ad-blocker, just firefox browser, and I don't really see any adverts on ATS.
I wouldn't pay to post here either, I like it here but I wouldn't pay to do so.

Internet access and cellular data costs too much as it is. Especially in Canada.

I have never yet put financial data on the internet. I wouldn't want to start now.

The ads are drawing income (indirectly) from the large numbers who read without posting or even logging in. Your idea would place all the burden on the smaller minority wanting to post things (who are already contributing the content that draws in the others).

I believe the principle is that more posts means fewer ads.

Not a monthly subscription no it don't appeal, but a one off payment to not receive ads then maybe yes. Just keep it small and a one off adds off payment would be attractive to some of us on here

I like that idea.

As far as ATS, I am happy with the way it is now.

If they participated in that browser BAT token exchange I would install the browser and watch some ads for ATS. Sure.
