Mysterious wolf-like creature shot in montana

This is an odd looking whatever it is..



"On May 16 a lone wolf-like animal was shot and killed on a ranch outside Denton. With long grayish fur, a large head and an extended snout, the animal shared many of the same characteristics as a wolf; but its ears were too large, it's legs and body too short, its fur uncharacteristic of that common to a wolf."

"We have no idea what this was until we get a DNA report back," said Bruce Auchly, information manager for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. "

Maybe somebody will slab a sasquach next.
That's the only way it will ever be proven.

Kind of an odd looking critter.
Probably a hybrid of some sort.
The angle of the first picture and the person in the background it look HUGE.

Definatly a Canid. I’m going to agree with the scientists in the story and go with some kind of wolf/dog hybrid. Def a scary specimen.

From certain angles, it looks a bit Weasley.

That first pic definitely just looks like a malnourished bear, but a better look at the ears and the fact that it has a tail and the picture of the paw definitely destroy that theory. Interesting find.

It looks a bit odd for a wolf, but will certainly be one.

Yup. Was just gonna say my German Shepherd is that big and she's a girl. My dog's ears are even bigger and she is not afraid of getting funky when it rains or snows, so her fur is often as dirty as this animal's...

Maybe a hybrid but I don't get all the excitement. Maybe people with little experience with the range of sizes and shapes of dogs/wolves/hybrids? but it is Montana... I'd think they'd know a dog or wolf or wolf/dog hybrid when they see one.

Looks like he was writing a letter when they shot him.

We can not have any animals using pens round here no matter what type of creature it is.

That was my first impression. Some sort of hybrid. Although it could have a family somehwere. Waiting for it to come home with food.
