God's smackdown?

A. It's 2018, let's act like it. Religious wars are archaic.

B. What a loaded statement. Of course in this context we're talking about an Abrahamic God, but from who's perspective? All three have equal claim, with all their texts supporting that statement.

The irony is deep in this thread to begin with. Any added in comments is icing on the cake.

Who killed him by the way?

I do believe it was a man named Pontius Pilate (a Roman BTW) who ordered it due to the jealousy that he felt of the popularity of the movement Jesus created.
Herod , in which who's jurisdiction Jesus belonged in , found Jesus not-guilty in any anti-state crimes. Herod was raised as a Jew.
Gotchya , didnt I ?
Wasnt ready for that one , were you ?
Got any questions on any other known religion ?
Start a thread and I will be there to answer,

I'm sure the Jewish trial had nothing to do with it...

Didn't the whole assembly call for his death for being a false prophet? Did the Jewish elders speak with Pilate and ask that he be judged by the court of law?

All that being said, at the end the blood is on Pilate's hand. But he wasn't the only one who wanted it, and many historians think the pressure from multiple parties actually led to it.

star there....I read just two days ago of a histirical account by Origen or maybe, another.....that they were not strangers.....Pilate knew Jesus was special and asked him to not rile-up the pharisees coz Pilate didn't have enough men to quell an uprising

then Jesus answered

then Pilate said Jesus had forced him not to ask....but to order Jesus not to rile-em-up

The Jewish Sanhedrin found Jesus guilty only of a crime punishable by a flogging .
Herod found him not guilty.
Sorry , I only noticed the one major flaw in your post.
Jesus was disliked by a lot of Jews who wanted to retain the status quo. No upsetting the applecart for them.
Yet , the Muslim religion still considers Jesus a great prophet today . Imagine that.

Move along then....
Sometimes wisdom can only be found by those willing to attempt comprehension.

I'll be honest, we're going off of multiple different accounts that have been translated in many cases hundreds of years ago.

My whole point is maybe we shouldn't use that for foreign policy.

There are plenty of different views that could be supported by some of these accounts that are thousands of years old. See the problem?

It's 2018, I don't want my taxes going to loosely interpreted text that is 2,000~ years old.

Well , there is history versus someone's neighbor's account. I will give you that.
Who is trying to use what as foreign policy ? How ? Where ?
There is only history . See my first remark of this post.
What taxes are being based on a 2,000 year old text ? Other than , yes they did have taxes back then as well . And by percentage , probably much higher .

No need to scurry away from it. The US is primarily Christians, and many of whom are not only willing, but elated to involve us in essentially a holy war in the Middle East.

Many comments on this board support that.
