Dude, worst year of my LIFE. One pilot just punched out because he bingo'ed fuel! He had plenty to make it back to base!

Anyways,
Argentina was just on the news and that place is in a bad way. Peeps cant even but baby formula cuz inflation is like 5000%, so it may actually be a good time to invade the mainland and sort em out.

64. 64-14839. Delivered in 65. All others after that one were converted to other missions.

Aw that's sad to hear, I'd support UK aid with no thoughts of '82, in a heartbeat.
There was some other thread I replied in, about how long people hold grudges for, it was the Obama 'slave master' heritage thread, and I blame a person only on their actions. I have no beef with Argentinian people.

From experience I'd say Argentinians are good people, don't hold a grudge or anything. At least not the ones I've happened to conversate with.

Yeah, Argentina is screwed up at the minute financially, seems a few South American nations are doing bad these days.

Same, even my older bro who fought there has no beef with his opposite foe, they were doing their job as he says.
I actually feel sorry for the Argentinian people who missed out on the oil exploration 50/50 deal which was offered to their government. Their economy could well do with it.
Just had a look at their airforce on wiki and it appears they don't even have any fighter/bomber aircraft anymore, lil Britain could probably invade them now, what a twist of fate.

Not sure if related but in the last 20 minutes a few chinooks have gone overheead/set off from Lancashire Medical Batallion/Fulwood Baracks, very rare seen once or twice in my life - not sure on number as had headphones on loud and drowned all that out, must have been low as gave the house a little rattle.

Engine did not sound healthy at all but couldn't see a visual and it landed in fields behind the house before rotors stopped, they powered back up aboput five minutes later, saw it circle. I went to the front of the house and saw a second helicopter rise barely clearing a house 30m away (would have been about level with pilot/been able to see him if the sun wasn't behind, though could still see detail on the paintwork).

Scary stuff for a second and used to work at the local BAe and used to constant close flying air shows and manouvers - if unrelated why would they fly so low (usually at least 100m) any idea what the cause of the relanding was?

They probably noticed one of the hydraulic lines stopped leaking. The running joke with the Chinook is that as long as you're leaking, you're fine. If it ever stops, you better land fast.

Sounds all too plausible in this case, it sounded like it had run out of stuff to leak. No idea what was wrong, coughing or spluttering but the standard 'chut chut chut' noise faded and was replaced by a 'brrrrr' sound resembling the local none military air ambulance but a couple of octaves lower. May just be distortion from echo as the housing here is in dog legs and u bends, was a lot of echo bouncing around.

I'd be very suprised if there wasn't a flight over the lakes/pennines/moors. Low pass runs through the valleys there are common, think they go to wales to do more there then back to Norfolk. I've been above Eurofighters when climbing Helvelyn, Scarfell and Snowdonia (hypersonic, and close did the most pathetic, unnecessary action movie dive to the ground in history as it was probably a mile away by the time I'd reacted and hit the deck).

Couldn't be a more perfect day for it.

good shout Zaph, its only about 100 miles or so from I am, might have a nosy on down there on my ninja 650, not that I need an excuse to go out for a ride of course.

Just looking at Google Maps now to see where the best viewing areas would be...

Misconfiguration of the fuel panel. Crew chief screwed up while refueling.

Off topic but any idea if the new BAE Transformer is starting flights, a mate got snaps a description of a separate new craft operating from their equivalent of skunk works (looks just like MAGMA) but desperate to see how the self healing/3D printing and the aircraft being able to seperate into four smaller tessellations of itself to carry out different tasks/reprint downed craft works in practice (doubt it'll come anything near but one can hope as it's not been canned yet after several years R&D and civillian use cited for 2040.
