I was thinking more "Paper Hat"
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitoring group, confirmed that rockets were fired towards the occupied Golan. But it said the attack came after Israeli forces bombarded Baath, a town in the demilitarised zone.
Israel has been on heightened alert in recent days in anticipation of an Iranian attack: Tehran has vowed retaliation for two other recent Israeli strikes in Syria which targeted and killed at least 13 Iranian nationals.

Yes this is correct, we've seen that during the various Gaza operations. Only a fraction of incoming projectiles are activley targeted, actual interception rates are 90%+, but depending on the target/trajectory they may use multiple interceptors at each target.

I vaguely recall from an article sometime back where the Patriot missiles, part of the Iron Dome, don't fire intercepting missiles if the trajectory of the rockets fired will land in an open or unpopulated area.

And Patriot is another SAM-System entirely, has nothing to do with Iron Dome. Iron Domes interceptors are called Tamir and are an indigenous Israeli development. The IDF has Patriots as well, but those are usually used against aircraft and short range balistic missiles (with PAC-3 upgrade). They are currently in the proccess of fielding Magic Wand systems to eventually replace the Patriots. Magic Wand Interceptors (called Stunner) are another indigenous Israeli design and are a candidate for the upcoming PAAC-4 upgrade of Patriot.
I'm more concerned with where it's going rather than where it's coming from, at least for now.
Pretty much.

Sure it's a 'fact'. It's also a 'fact' that the attack on Israel that led to seizing the heights was 'illegal'. I guess illegal stuff stuff happens.
I have zero problem with Israel's 'illegal act' in response the illegal act that invoked it. On and on...
