Mueller seeks delay in case alleging Russians interfered in U.S. presidential election

Lots of people have been assuming the Mueller indictments of those Russians involved in trolling the 2016 election were never going to show up for court.

But now it seems somebody has come forward on behalf of at least one company involved.

They want some "evidence" and the Mueller Team apparently asked for a delay !!

I wonder what "evidence" they will "produce" ?

Prosecutors from special counsel Robert Mueller’s office are seeking to delay the first court hearing in a criminal case charging three Russian companies and 13 Russian citizens with using social media and other means to foment strife among Americans in advance of the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

The 13 people charged in the high-profile indictment in February are considered unlikely to ever appear in a U.S. court. The three businesses accused of facilitating the alleged Russian troll farm operation — the Internet Research Agency, Concord Management and Consulting, and Concord Catering — were also expected to simply ignore the American criminal proceedings.

Last month, however, a pair of Washington-area lawyers suddenly surfaced in the case, notifying the court that they represent Concord Management. POLITICO reported at the time that the move appeared to be a bid to force Mueller’s team to turn over relevant evidence to the Russian firm and perhaps even to bait prosecutors into an embarrassing dismissal in order to avoid disclosing sensitive information.

They need time to manufacture the fake documents. It takes time and money to create fake evidence you know.

You're right. It seems likely that Mueller was depending on the Russian cases never getting to court. He set up the charges for optics, to make it look like he had found something important to sway public opinion against Trump.

I don't doubt that Russians attempted something, as they have been for decades. But if there is any kind of evidence, it probably only shows that some low level people were posting opinion stuff on social media. Nothing they did had any impact on the election results.

Consider how many Americans were chiming in on social media with their opinions regarding Brexit. Obama himself directly spoke out against Brexit. Other countries always speak up on political issues in our global society.

SOMETHING needs to be made transparent...
Maybe the demand for a speedy trial will finally give us a look into what’s officially/really going on, so we all don’t have to just make our best guesses...

I wonder what this new evidence will be too. As in here in America we have to provide something called a “discovery” during legal proceedings to the other side. Basically you gotta show your hand, documents, materials, exhibit-wise. I’m no legal eagle. so does this apply here or is this something else altogether. Also of note, this isn’t the first or second time where Mueller’s team needs to add seconds to the buzzer for some reason or another? Thinking Flynn. Thinking emails...

The prosecution does need to provide full discovery of all evidence to the defense.

Mueller would have had to have all of this in place before filing for charges. The delay does not make sense.

If employing a troll farm to sway public opinion is a crime, then why aren't Hillary and Obama in jail?

Both proudly declared that they had an army of "internet warriors".

Seems like every time Team Witch Hunt is asked for evidence they choke or are called out for sleazy and transparent tactics.

Time for this to end and get on with issues that truly impact the world and the USA---from N. Korea to the economy. These corrupt politicos are gumming up the system and need to be brought to heel before they bring our country down.

it's called they filled a motion for discovery which is a regular part of typical judicial process usually done after an arraignment but I'm sure things can be handled more efficiently when you can afford it

Mueller has to actually produce evidence or the judge will throw the case out, I'm assuming the next step in the process is a suppression hearing and they may win that

Mueller is attempting to win the court of public opinion but it's not working, it's backfiring and I'm getting sick of this bull# already

So admitting your ignorance is some kind of reply that negates that this soft coup exists? It's a very big deal--the fate of the USA hangs in balance--and the evidentiary items are many and clear.

You should start doing some reading and understand why following the details of these folk is both important and very revealing. Your partisanship is blinding you.

Exactly, and that includes the Intelligence services... remember Grizzly Steppe? Zero evidence of any hack on the DNC servers but they just put out a document for optics and a year later? Nada. Its the same with these Russians. They have no evidence other than they found some Russian dudes who liked to post about politics on social media. So Mueller will stall and hope it goes away. I hope the company involved push this all the way. Put up or shut up, Mueller.
