Iowa set to ban abortions after six weeks

Iowa already banned abortions after 20 weeks now republicans are trying to shorten the window again.

Still no word if the female governor will sign the bill.

"The "heartbeat" bill, as it has come to be known, requires women to have an ultrasound to screen for a foetal heartbeat before they can receive an abortion. "

There are exceptions in the bill for rape, incest and the mothers health.

I'm not totally against certain restrictions on abortion but 6 weeks is way early.
They also need to include something making adoption easier for the likely increase in the birth rate.
This will only make it more difficult for women seeking abortions considering they can just leave the state to have the procedure done.

I'm not sure why so many people think a living baby is a part of the "woman's body". It's a separate person. You're the host.

This is a good bill. The "heartbeat" bill, appropriate indeed. Hope they sign it.

This is a good thing. Finally, some compassion shown for the baby! I'm against abortion, period, but maybe at 6 weeks or less they won't be able to feel it.

I think the problem is that people can't agree when the baby is considered a person.
Until that is resolved it's just going to be argued in circles.

It is not a "living baby" at 6 weeks, and the decision should still lie with the "host", not some bureaucrats who have suddenly developed some kind of wayward, misinformed conscience.

six weeks is ridiculous... but they'll just keep pushing and pushing anyway. that's half of why so many people support trump no matter what he does, they're hoping for another supreme court justice for their team so they can roll back the clock and make abortion illegal.

Grrr. This is ridiculous. Plenty of women wouldn't even know they were pregnant at 6 weeks. A percentage of pregnancies end on their own at this point with the mother not even realizing she was pregnant. What is the difference between spontaneous miscarriage and abortion at this point?

If a woman wants to have an abortion at 6 weeks 8 weeks 9 weeks, she'll find a way.

In Chinas case, it was one sided, leaving a lop sided population, where have all the girls gone??? Course, my post was to let heartbeats continue and live, not cutting down a specific gender, ala China, or whole babies, ala US.
