Mueller is the boss. Unless he thinks he can get her here and under oath (he won't) a phone interview is as good as it will get.
The admission came after emails surfaced showing Veselnitskaya working closely with Russian legal authorities. In an interview with NBC News that aired Friday, Veselnitskaya said “I am a lawyer and I am an informant,” and that she has been communicating with Russia’s prosecutor general, Yuri Y. Chaika, since 2013.
According to the New York Times, Veselnitskaya’s initial claims to have acted independently were previously undermined when her talking points for the Trump campaign meeting appeared to originate with Chaika
Veselnitskaya, of course, might have made the claim as part of a further Kremlin attempt to sow chaos in the U.S. political system.

That is probably what he'll do becuase it would make it look like he tried without actually trying. If he indicts her, she never speaks to him. That's what he would like to have happen. Or he can call her, get her version of events, notate them and move on. But what if she says something he doesn't want to hear???

No doubt she was given the OK to disclose it by the Kremlin, but that too is an admission she works for the Kremlin.
Either way, Donny had a meeting with a direct agent of the Kremlin with an offer of help for the campaign.
They told Donny that up front.
It doesn't look good for JR.

This revelation means it was the Obama Justice Department that enabled the newest and most intriguing figure in the Russia-Trump investigation to enter the country without a visa.
The Moscow lawyer had been turned down for a visa to enter the U.S. lawfully but then was granted special immigration parole by then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch for the limited purpose of helping a company owned by Russian businessman Denis Katsyv, her client, defend itself against a Justice Department asset forfeiture case in federal court in New York City.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) has demanded the U.S. government provide him all records on how Veselnitskaya entered and traveled in the U.S., a request that could shed additional light on her activities.
The sources also described their interactions with Veselnitskaya in the same way that Trump Jr. did. They claimed not to know who she worked for or what her motives were.

LOL don't get mad that mueller is cutting corners.
A call would not be pointless.
Also, if she's a kremlin agent,
why did preet bharara personally see to it that she was let into the country???
Bharara’s office said no. In a letter to Prevezon’s U.S. lawyers, prosecutors said such paroles aren’t appropriate for foreign lawyers asking to help U.S. counsel prepare for appellate arguments or to attend appellate proceedings. “Since neither Katsyv nor Veselnitskaya are required to appear as witnesses in person at this stage of proceedings, we do not believe that immigration parole is appropriate,”
And by the same token I guess a trump interview would be pointless, too, right?
