did Obama have people campaigning for it like trump has?? it's seems so odd and unbelievably desperate.

reminds me of when he pushed so hard and lied so much to get on the forbes 100 most wealthy list. even good ol john barron came out to campaign for that one. LOL

And that philosophy is completely contradictory to what the Peace Prize is supposed to represent. It's supposed to go to those that have "done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses"

I don't know how much input Trump has had on the current improvement of Korean relations. I know Moon has stated that he's been a key player. That said, it seems to fly in the face of what the award stands for by giving it to someone who doubled the number of US drone strikes in his first year.

And utterly destroyed the ISIS infrastructure in Iraq and Syria in the process...as opposed to slowly "degrading" it while tens of thousands died and a massive refugee crisis washes over all of Europe.

Sometimes you have to swing a big stick once or twice to squash a bug, to forever stop it from constantly stinging or biting people. Peace through strength...

I agree. Peace is not achieved by rolling over on your backs and showing your belly. The old pacifist outlook is simply untenable.

The president of South Korea said Trump should get a Nobel Peace Prize! Who else do you want to hear it from already? Jesus? Zeus? Odin?

But it is a wait and see.

I do not think Trump should have a Nobel Peace Prize either way.

He does not act to secure peace.
He acts to secure America's interests.

And nothing wrong with that - in fact, that is his job and what *any* american president should do in my opinion. And if peace is a byproduct of what you do, then great, more power to you, but then - also in my opinion - that is not a peace prize worthy.

Let's make the peace prize great again!

I was talking to a liberal co-worker today and he said that the Korean peace agreement is really not that big of a deal... going to be great referencing the South Korean presidents call for a Nobel Peace prize for Trump!

According to a white house reporter when Trump was asked about the Nobel Peace prize, Trump said.. "Peace is the Prize!"
