Correct me if I'm wrong but I was taught that in the middle ages the families in power in Italy, particularly the Borgias, De Medici and Sforzas kept a tight rein over their populace with the following approach.

The eldest child took over power from the ruler, the second took control of the church, the third control of the military and the fourth buttressed the family fortunes in commerce.

It was common for this approach to be taken and therefore many popes were sibling of kings or princes.

It's interesting that these family principles continued through to the Upper class Victorians in Britain - even on to my own family where the eldest took on power, the next 2 (twins) both became abbots, 4th entered military and 5th made more bucks than the rest put together in commerce.

ETA - Before you ask, I'm not the progeny of 2nd or 3rd son!

Hey Sky. You summarized a similar belief I have held for a long time. Albeit you call it by a different name than I do none the less we are saying the same thing.

This is what has ultimately led me down these rabbit holes. At the very end there has to be some driving force manipulating these people to provide for it what it wants. My deeper question is this. What does the LVIB offer it's worshiper in exchange for their service? It's not money or power. Money and power are ancillary items that come about as a result of their corruption in the physical world. What do the LVIBs give them? There has to be something of great value to these humans for them to be willing to do what they do.

This is where I cannot finalize the answer.

A thought that crossed my mind about a week after AJ went offline was why he didn't have some minor dead man switches in place in the event that this happened.

Not the motherload as in the event of death, but just enough that it would make it unwise to cut him off.

Could it be that he ran himself out of cards to play? I would hope that's not the case.

I could think of a few different ways that could get someone to follow them, both fear and reward-based.

1. Follow us and we'll stop torturing you (as we have since childhood).

2. Follow us and you'll have drug-like-highs all the time.

3. Follow us and you'll have money and power.

4. Follow us because life is empty and meaningless and nothing has consequences, nothing is good or bad. So
might as well party.

5. Follow us and you wont have to go to hell. You'll be so evil you'll cease to exist.

6. Follow us because might is right and you can only survive if you subdue others. The lion was at the top of the food
chain because the lion eats humans. Might is right.

7. Follow us because blood drinking leads to life extension. Its the biggest secret and now you know it. Welcome to the Club. What...you're ethical? No problem...we own Red Cross.

8. Follow us because we rule everything. If you cant beat us, might as well join us.

The thing is, these people are STUPID. And they were probably chosen among the desperate or easily flattered. Not that hard to convince.
