I know quite a bit about this "organization". The leader is a full on con-artist. Before starting this group, which started out as Executive Success Program (ESP) and then re-branded (pun intended) to NXIVM (pronounced nexium, like the medication), he was involved in a pyramid scheme marketing vitamins and health food. He actually had civil fines in the millions against him in many states.

This cult used all the tried and true tactics including targeting emotionally vulnerable people, using isolation, etc., etc.. One of my brothers got hooked in with them and went all in. He basically abandoned is kids and moved to upstate NY. He tried to get me and some of my other siblings involved but no one bought it. I don't know anything but what is in the press about the sex stuff but thankfully it seems as if Raniere was the only man involved in these accusations.
