I really hope this plays out with a lasting peace on the peninsula. I spent a year at Osan AB... best year of my career. The South Koreans are amazing hosts... (in spite of the many "ugly" Americans they have to deal with... )

Welcoming, gracious, respectful... and funny as hell with a snootful of soju. A truly beautiful country...

A renewed Korean conflict would probably kill millions... that is a stark reality. Koreans have lived with this reality for decades.

A truly lasting peace... that would be something wonderful.

Ummm...I totally concur...Koreans are an amazing people with an amazing culture....and Korea is a beautiful country...I was there twice...

I’d go back in a heartbeat...OMG...the tales I could tell about soju...

...here’s to hoping this nation can resolve it’s differences and the North Korean people join in the prosperity that their southern family have enjoyed...

All this time as we sat in comfort...making them starve...we owe them big time...it’s going to be one hell of a cultural shock...I hope they can survive assimilation...

Just to temper this slightly - I don't think any deal is 'done'.
We'll see what happens, but peace does not come from JUST talking... there needs to be an actual plan that is followed through and a clear goal in mind. Peace can't just hang on people SAYING they'll do something - i.e. de-nuclearize. Kim could just be playing along to buy time.

Wow. I don't know what to say, this is the first post of yours I've seen that I agree with every single word. You're right. I completely agree that it could be a well designed stall tactic.

I find it a little hard to swallow that the rhetoric (and actions) for years has been "we're going to do want we want irrespective of what US policy wants us to adhere to", and all the sudden they want to play billiards together? We'll see...

Nominations...

We do not need any nominations.

Congressional approval...

We do not need any approval.

I told you. The Trump Administration gets much more done when Congress is on vacation.

Now Congress has learned about Pompeo, and they want to give all kinds of advice to president Trump and his administration. In other words they want the gum up the works. The Trump Administration does just fine without them. Better in fact.

I wish I knew what the real reasons for this really were.

I have no idea what trump, kim, moon, or anyone in the american government has done to make this happen.
Not the real reasons.

I would love to know what went on behind closed doors and with whom, so That I knew who to give the credit to.

Honestly I am skeptical that any real change is going to happen in NK. So far it has only been words.

One possibility:

They showed them footage of the alpha site off world and said they wont be invited by the breakaway "overlord" civilization unless they play ball.

Then they told them that they were going to reset the world in order to recolonize it in the future "past".

Bluebeam was ultimately meant to target world leaders and not the masses.

LOL

Just some light fun.

Non of the news organizations reported on it when it happened.

ALL of them are reporting about it now.

So I don't know why you are saying it is not getting any attention.

Time:time.com...

Hoffpost:www.huffingtonpost.com...

CNN:www.cnn.com...

Fox:www.foxnews.com...

And according to the timestamps the huffingtonpost was the first to report this while everyone else just copied them.

Easter was on april 1st this year. It would be funny if this was a joke.

Huh, I was told by some on ATS that Trump will have had nothing to do with this.

I wonder when they will get tired of tasting crow and humble dishes.

If the Trump administration can bring peace to the Korean peninsula and finally end the Korean war, then he'd deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.

Or he could conduct drone strikes for 7 years and get one too.

He might not want to accept it.

Too much BS with them in the past.

Rigging and all that 😎

The Korean people deserve peace... we both agree...

Your political spin... I have some trouble with that.

The DPRK has used abject brutality as a means of control and dominion over their own people for decades.

We didn't make them starve. Their government did.

The South Koreans didn't deny the North economic opportunity. Their government did.

Yes, their will be a huge culture shock for North Koreans to assimilate into a modern society like South Korea...

...buying actual FOOD at a grocery will probably blow their minds.

I hope the two Koreas one day unite. I honestly do.

The only truly peaceful resolution will probably take decades. The two countries are polar opposites in almost every respect.

The fact that the North has agreed to sit down and talk now... incredible.

I pray for peace in Korea.
