Has anyone the courage to say it as it is?

The following is from an article I read ....

There is a controversial call for tougher policing in black communities hit
by knife and gun crime than in white areas with less violence being made.

In a move that is bound to provoke a fierce debate political leaders are being
taken to task for failing to acknowledge that rising knife/gun crime involves race.

He says police should be allowed to make more ‘stop and search’ checks of suspected thugs in areas such as Tottenham in London – where Mr Phillips himself grew up and where several knife attacks have occurred – than in areas such as leafy Maidenhead, Mrs May’s Royal Berkshire constituency.

Just cant win.....I am sure I will catch heat for this.......But to me it seems that screaming racist doesn't do anything but make those who cry foul look foolish. Facts, numbers and statistics dont see color. But we cant point out problem areas or people go ballistic.

profiling works... but this can be taken advantage of too and become racist very fast.

a 'suspected thug' is not the 75 year old black man that gets tuned up by the cops for #ing living
its not the 20 year old black man walking his #ing kid down the street

people dont like to admit it when it comes to profiling but it works and those profiles exist for a reason..

even people that profile dont like to admit they profile or at least stereotype.

I don't think it's racist per say. but more stops and checks of people of "black afro -Caribbean" backgrounds is that going to help the problem or make the problem worse, By already casting an aspersion that that background or race is bad?

I don't think there's anything wrong with calling a spade a spade.

There's been a lot of effort to make us all think it's wrong though and that nobody else agrees, imo.

It may not be racist based on statistics, but it's pretty messed up.

Heck, why not stop and search everyone? If you have nothing to hide...

Its from an article in one of the Sunday papers. As I said I agreed with it but 'know'

if I voiced it it would be considered racist.

It intrigued me because it was by Treavor Phillips who's parents came to the UK

from the West Indies in the 1950's

He was head of the commission for racial equality from 2003 to 2006.

Even he conceded some of what he said would be considered racist.

I don't think it is the same on this side of the pond. Working in police work during 'The Crack War™' when inner cities would incarcerate the Urban (black or other; non-voter; non-affluent) in Prison for making more $$ in the big money waster, "The Drug War". The Urbans would 'rock it up' and make 3x the $$$. Those in the Suburbs would use the 'powder' form and receive Probation. These folks were White; Affluent and they Vote.

Whats the difference? Those in the Urban setting in most cases, won't hire a private attorney, so they get 'stuck' with the Public Pretender that has way too many cases (by design) When they 'cop pleas' this goes as a 'Successful Felony Arrest' thus MORE Government $$$ is dispersed to these Cities (in Ca. anyway.. Just 'might' explain the 'why' behind "Sanctuary Cities". The Gov't. turned off the tap AND those just now getting out after their 25 year bits, hardly have the energy to vote...

You know how the "original Settlers" (the white guys from England who 'found' America) wanted to come here and have freedoms? Now they run everything and they're trying to make it like it was when they fled England. So nothing changes except it isn't as cold and foggy..

If the stats indicate what he claims, it would be racist to overlook that. Imo

ETA- I don't know about stop and frisk, but patrolling heavier in areas of trouble just seems logocal

This how it is done, patrols are increased in poor , violent areas, not necessarily all black.

We have our areas here my town where this is the case.

Just the other day, the police gunned down a man armed with a screw driver. He was not black. They tased him 3 times before he charged the officers with the screw driver.

It's not a race thing, it's a poverty thing.

It's not racist if you concentrate on the crime. If the crime takes place in a certain area it's a crime. Period.

Common sense says those areas need policing more than areas that don't have the crime.

However, statistics do show discrepancy in prison sentences based on race. Obviously there are more racially diverse judges and juries than even 20 years ago but that problem persists and needs to be discussed.

The op makes several references to violent cultures without mentioning immigration.

It seems the present administration is trying to do just that-the dirty word-immigration. We know violent cultures are bringing their violence to our culture. We are turning into Londonistan. As much as I dislike Trump-he does have the courage to talk about it and try to do something. And that's NOT racist.
