Facebook Zuckerberg faces the U.S. Senate Live at 2:15pm EST April 10 2018

Mr Facebook Zuckerberg will get questioned by Senators today around 2:15pm Eastern Time.

The hearings start after some kind of vote in the Senate.

The whole thing is about the data mining and how it played into political campaigns.

Every excuse under The Sun has been presented so maybe we get more now.

Zuck won't be "under oath", but is "expected" to tell the truth anyway.

He had some "meetings" already ahead of the real "hearings" 😉

Facebook’s chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg, will make his much-anticipated appearance before members of Congress starting Tuesday afternoon. In two days of hearings, he will face tough questions on how and why the company failed to protect the delicate data of many millions of its users.

This is Mr. Zuckerberg’s first appearance before Congress and his performance will be critical to the company’s future. His responses about the company’s ability to protect its users will be closely scrutinized by lawmakers and regulators as well as competitors, Facebook employees and the billions of people who use the platform across the globe.

To help make the case that he should be taken seriously as a businessman and a statesman, Mr. Zuckerberg will be taking oath in a suit instead of his trademark gray T-shirt and jeans.

There are rumors that Zuckerburg gave some of these senate members cash prior to this hearing. So it may be all for show and nothing gets done.

We need to focus on the real issues threatening our nation....like Trump screwing a porn star 10 years ago.

This being ATS, I feel obligated to point out that when you see things like this happening, it might be prudent to ask what is really going on here, rather than what they are telling us is going on.

IOW, perhaps this is theater and is designed explicitly for steering public opinion. And just maybe Zuckerberg is in on it? Nah! Couldn't be. One of the richest (Arguably smartest?) men in the world is going to allow Congress to interrogate him in person instead of going through his attorneys. Right? I mean, obviously, if someone filed a suit against Zuckerberg he'd show up in court in person without his lawyers and be ready to talk about just any old thing.

I'm hoping for the giant pic with Z and the sealed up microphones followed up by the question why he did that. Yeah not gonna happen but you have to admit it sounds awesome.

Unfortunately Z will weasel himelf out of this and pretend he values your privacy. [spoiler]He doesn't.[/spoiler] Regulate or kill Facebook. It's the only way to be sure.

I think people should be free to choose whether or not they use Facebook and it is not your, or mine, place to decide what should or should not be "killed".
