WASHINGTON—Special Counsel Robert Mueller was authorized in a secret memo to investigate former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s work for the Ukrainian government, in addition to alleged collusion with Russian officials to interfere in the 2016 elections, according to court filings.
The classified August memo from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was disclosed in a court filing by Mr. Mueller’s prosecutors. It seeks to counter arguments by Mr. Manafort’s lawyers that his indictment should be thrown out because Mr. Mueller was authorized to investigate only matters strictly arising from the main subject of the probe: Russian interference in the election and links between the Kremlin and Mr. Trump’s campaign.

Secret memos and procedings....
....it makes me uneasy.
sure, Manafort may be a scumbag, but just like all the other plants, leakers, spies etc...like Mueller himself....none of this bears witness to a Trump impeachable offense.
I know. I recall who Manafort was working for when these alleged dealings were happening.
But she didnt win....why the need for secrecy?

So without disclosing the memo the filing by manafort had standing?
Your source is behind a pay wall , has the judge ruled yet?
Take it easy, buddy. I haven't mentioned any names. Just stating that someone should've been arrested by now.
But yea, people using their power positions to investigate opposition, accessing private servers to gather information, forging and destroying evidences... Seems like the judicial system in your country is working very fine.

Is it legal to expand a special counsels jurisdiction via a memo?
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told special counsel Robert Mueller in a classified August 2, 2017, memo that he should investigate allegations that President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort was "colluding with Russian government officials" to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, prosecutors in the Russia probe revealed late Monday night.
The special counsel's office was able to investigate two avenues of alleged crimes Manafort committed -- working with Russians to influence the election in violation of US law, and for crimes that arose from payments Manafort received from former Ukrainian politicians. The Ukrainian connections and payments form the basis of the federal criminal charges Manafort currently faces.
The investigation into Manafort's alleged collusion with Russians has not resulted in publicly known charges.
because Trump as an outsider was extremely ignorant of the machinations of DC, otherwise the dozen or so people that have been fired or resigned would of never been there.
Rosenstein, the entire Mueller team is stacked to depose a sitting president, elected by people who are sick and tired of the DC organized crime family selling our country off to the "big table".
