-Enable foreign police to collect and wiretap people's communications from U.S. companies, without obtaining a U.S. warrant.

-Allow foreign nations to demand personal data stored in the United States, without prior review by a judge.

-Allow the U.S. president to enter "executive agreements" that empower police in foreign nations that have weaker privacy laws than the United States to seize data in the United States while ignoring U.S. privacy laws.

-Allow foreign police to collect someone's data without notifying them about it.

-Empower U.S. police to grab any data, regardless if it's a U.S. person's or not, no matter where it is stored.

Responsibility Deflected, the CLOUD Act Passes

This is what Donald Trump signed into freakin' law today. Everyone is making a #show out of illegal immigration when THIS is what just became law. Giving FOREIGN cops power to take our data without warrants, which then allows OUR cops to use the data against us, bypassing the 4th amendment entirely.

What kind of anti-American garbage is this?

Thanks for nothing Trump.

I hope Rand Paul challenges you next election. I'm done with you.

No one read this garbage bill, by the way. Not even POTUS himself.

It was attached as an amendment. This should bring us all together. Not against Trump, but against the machine he is the leader of that works tirelessly to destroy our rights.

You can't have my guns, my speech, any other rights. I will entertain no argument that seeks to restrict ANY rights, ever. I am done with this kind of garbage.

Isn't this a violation of the 4th Amendment?

This cannot stand, it is tyrannical!

Specific to this CLOUD business:

This week, Senators Hatch, Graham, Coons, and Whitehouse introduced a bill that diminishes the data privacy of people around the world.

www.eff.org...

Quick, someone get some Q memes in here to remind us everything is different now.

It's sad that people bought into Q.

Everyone just wants to be lead around by the nose instead of thinking things through.

Nice super police state world trap.

If politicians are just sitting around using our tax dollars to find better ways to entrap us, and remove rights we have a problem.

No taxation without representation.

No representation is obvious, so let's end taxes.

Great thread, and man that's some strangeness.

But since Trump just signed away everyone's 4th Amendment rights and American law enforcement sovereignty, he may very well be the last.

What the **** is going on?

This shouldn't have passed anything. Not one representative should have allowed this.

Trump is yet another stooge working for the people behind the scenes, the only difference is that the media has helped to paint him as an outsider. No matter what he does, many people will defend him because of how the media treats him. I don't think that's a coincidence, the media knows exactly what they're doing, as do Trump and his handlers.

I love trump. He is the smartest man he knows. But he has real problem sorting his book colleciton. Someone need tell him that George Orwell's 1984 book belongs on the fiction shelf. its not a dummy's guide for running governments.

There's a lot of garbage I was willing to forgive(personal indiscretions and what not) but this is just beyond the pale.

This bill is a disgrace. But I have a lot of questions about it. Can foreign police act on US soil in any way? Can foreign police share information with US police/government? If either of those are true, than this is flagrantly unconstitutional. If those aren't true, then it's just a disgrace.

If a zombie apocalypse infected Washington DC and everyone in DC had to be quarantined or placed into tiny cells and be fed rats for the rest of their lives, I would still watch tv tonight and have a drink.

Because DC and everyone in it sucks right now.

Everyone.

What's the website that shows which Congress members vote YEA or NEA for a given piece of legislation?

This law allows our information to be used against us.

I do not know if it can be construed to mean that foreign law enforcement can act against US citizens.

If such is the case...Well, I feel bad for the foreign cops.
