Full text of the bill:
www.congress.gov...

My Summary:
Website owners can now be held accountable for criminal activity of users.

This means if someone uploads proof of criminal activity to ATS, they can sue ATS for it.

Craigslist just deleted their personals sections because of it. I never would have met the love of my life without that service, or several of my good friends.

This is absolute insanity- the internet has been on a pretty bad downward spiral since the mid 00's IMO, but this is a huge blow.

I am openly ashamed of my government over this, and I'm proud to be moving into the woods and leaving it as far behind as I can.

Best of luck to future generations...

It'll never withstand judicial appeal.

Otherwise, Zucc would be in prison for murder and for torturing a retarded man with a group of insane lesbians.

US Congress just passed HR 1865, "FOSTA", seeking to subject websites to criminal and civil liability when third parties (users) misuse online personals unlawfully.

Any tool or service can be misused. We can't take such risk without jeopardizing all our other services, so we are regretfully taking craigslist personals offline. Hopefully we can bring them back some day.

To the millions of spouses, partners, and couples who met through craigslist, we wish you every happiness!

Message when attempting to visit the personals section of CL.

To be fair sex trafficking is a huge problem in America - and CL was full of hookers.

Escorts if hookers is offensive to anyone.

Prostitutes.

Today was a bad day for the administration - one they may not recover from. The President really stepped in it for the first time since he was inaugurated. The passing of the Omnibus bill and some of these other bills which clearly went under the radar (was it part of the omnibus?) is the FIRST time I have considered that the Democrats may actually have something on Trump (or a member of his family) and are using it for leverage.

Today has ripped apart Trump's base. Not good.

He carried their drum quite a bit during that recent school shooting noise. Not 100%, but enough that I noticed and I was actually trying not to pay attention to all that drama. Moreover, he could have annihilated the MSM by tweeting about the MSM's Mass Shooter Contagion Effect. But didnt.

His hair hasnt turned gray yet surprisingly. Usually that trip to the smoky basement new POTUS get taken into does the job the first month or two.

If this is the only way to shut down Craigslist filthy personals sections then I'm all for it. 90% of the users are fakes, drug dealers addicts, pedophiles, whores, and other low lifes that don't need an online presence.

I suspect it'll not withstand 1st amendment appeal. The result, regardless of intent, will be the death of public comments and user generated content. All user generated content will move to pay to play platforms where staff is paid to moderate each specific item published on the site. The internet will become a world of monolithic news agencies, media outlets, and data connection/sharing.

More of people blaming tools and believing removing the tools will change people. Good luck to those short sighted individuals.

You can read the bill, its posted in the OP.

As far as I am aware, ATS does not promote human trafficking.

Nah just don't let hookers advertise and your chosen site should be good.

Wait, did anyone actually read the bill?

Well now that its been passed, I guess it is time to read it.

Edit: I read it and it looks like I'll have to strike "become a pimp" from my bucket list. Oh well, probably would have ended badly in any case.

Moving to the woods to live is a good way to escape most of the stuff that seems to anger you. Life's too short for self-destruction.
