A plan of action for how a second special counsel can investigate the FBI and Justice Department is spelled out in a point-by-point letter submitted by two Republican senators. They specifically want to know whether former FBI Director James B. Comey lied to them and had a plan to double-cross President Trump.....
They attached a second letter to Michael E. Horowitz, the Justice Department’s inspector general, outlining all the avenues that need to be navigated — complete with new and expanded accusations. They want an investigation to look at whether Mr. Comey set up Mr. Trump as president-elect.
Mr. Comey visited Mr. Trump for an intelligence briefing at Trump Tower days before he took office. Mr. Comey broke the news about what he called a “salacious and unverified” dossier now known to have been bought by the Democratic Party from its contractor, former British spy Christopher Steele. It told of Mr. Trump supposedly frolicking with prostitutes in Moscow and overseeing Russia’s hacking of Democratic Party computers.
At the moment Mr. Comey called the scintillating dossier “unverified,” the FBI was using it to justify a wiretap on former Trump campaign volunteer Carter Page.
Concerns about Steele’s relationship to questionable Russian figures were initially raised after encrypted text messages between Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Adam Waldman, a registered foreign agent for Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, were leaked to the media. In those texts, Waldman repeatedly tried to broker access between Steele and Warner, who serves as the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. It is unclear why a registered foreign agent for a Russian oligarch would be running interference on Steele’s behalf.

In a letter to Attorney General DOJ Jeff Sessions and the inspector general of
the Department of Justice (DOJ), two key senators demanded answers about
James Comey and his testimony in a closed door session, and other answers he
has given that contradict one another. The Senators also want answers about
anti-Trump dossier author Christopher Steele and whether he was ever paid by
the Russian government or other Russian sources.

Additionally, it is believed that Christopher Steele was paid
by the Russian Government or possibly Russian Oligarch Oleg Deripaska.

Just looking at this quote again...
"At the moment Mr. Comey called the scintillating dossier “unverified,” the FBI was using it to justify a wiretap on former Trump campaign volunteer Carter Page."
On one hand he was saying "unverified" to Congress and Trump,
while knowing on the other that the dossier was used to gain the FISA warrant.
Apparently, James Comey has lied to someone, it does appear that
he lied under oath to Congress. Two other Senators joined
in the call for a second special counsel, House Majority Leader
Kevin McCarthy and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise. They
join 13 congressmen who have sent a letter to Sessions.
Thoughts?
If Comey set a trap for Trump, shouldn't this be
investigated? If he lied under oath, should he
further questioned?
If Steele was paid by Russians, and his information was
Russian sourced, it seems there is a Russian Collusion
story that is not being reported, obviously?
Should Sessions act sooner, rather than later?

This will all come out in the wash, as too many folks have the info, and eventually will write books, leak, or maybe get drunk and tell it all at a bar.

Books you say?
Leaks?
Drunken tales? Yep, sounds like a
Democrat plot to me for sure.

Once more we hear that parts of the dossier have been verified.
yet time and time again the only things that can be shown as verified were things that were public knowledge before the dossier was written.
Yes we know Page went to russia. No he didnt meet with the person he was accused of. But that doesnt stop the dossier defenders, they just say close enough.
It has been proven cohen didnt go to prague, which was a huge lynchpin in the entire trump working with russia to still the election with russians. Yet that again is ignored and we are still told parts of the dossier are true.
So go on, tell me what of consequence, that proves some sort of criminality alleged in the dossier has been confirmed true.
As for the idea we should let the investigation happen and see what turns up, I am fine with that.
Though funny its only when it against trump that this mindset is pushed.
Why no special prosecutor for uranium one, or the Podesta groups known failing to register under FARA, or the fbis handling of the case.
Lets just have a special prosecutor, preferably filled with pro trump people like the mueller team is filled with pro hillary/anti trump people, and let them investigate everything going decades back.
Whats the problem with that? Lets get wiretaps on all of the dems, lets unmask a bunch of them too. Lets leak damning info we find about them to the press.
This should all be legit if we really want to get to the bottom of russian influence, thats what we are told when its against trump.
But no, we are told that questioning the FBI is unamerican and dangerous, we are told no need for a special council for investigations into the podestas and hillary.
It just seems odd when it comes to trump, nothing is off the table and we must wait for the results of a never ending ever expanding investigation that now seems to have nothing to do with the original charge of working with russia to steal the election.
But when it comes to the investigators or hillary, calling for investigations is wasteful and stupid.

I'm not sure if there is any course of action at this point that can provide legal remedy for the problems we're seeing. The politicians seem too cowardly or greedy to care.
Tptb seem to be completely untouchable. If Trump can't break this system we're likely a lost cause.

Getting a "clean" Special Prosecutor is probably the hard part in all this. Just the evidence that's already public is damning and clear and we've only seen a tiny bit.
