My kingdom for a sniper rifle...that's the old saying, right?
Saw it too pretty flabbergasting, if not just outright surreal.

Contrary to what you may believe, far more of the Syrian people support him than oppose him. And most of the "rebels" are foreigners and foreign backed mercenaries. The original protests called for a new constitution and contested elections, both of which Syria has adopted since the protests began.

ETA: I can't vouch for the authenticity of the video, but you should check the vote totals and voting percentages in Syria's 2014 presidential election to see his support levels. (HERE)

You have a land coming out of a civil war/insurrection possibly started by people outside your country.

You have history showing what happened to rulers that stayed in their castle.

so its vitally important as the fighting calms down that he be seen, to give the perception that things are returning to normal.

Also don't kid yourself there were probably snipers every block of the route he drove, and folks in vehicles fully geared for war close by or at worst one street over.

Well lets hope he can put his bombs away and take back more of the 5m Displaced without killing them of in notorious Jails.
More have been repatriated than I have thought from this link..

reliefweb.int...

Highlights 443,000 Syrian Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) returned home so far in 2017. 31,226 Syrian refugees spontaneously returned to Syria so far in 2017. Potential for increased returns if peace and stability in Syria increases.

Careful now, we're not suppose to see the human side of declared enemies. The MSM doesn't let us hear their side of the story or even one word spoken by them. Familiarity with them makes them seem more human , how can we wage war and regime change if we see them as ordinary people like us?

Not that most of what they say about "Evil Dictators" is true. How would a world leader remain in power for years if the things they are accused of were true? We have bombed Syria, financed, armed and trained insurgencies, Sanctioned, embargoed, blockaded, surrounded and demonized Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya Syria, Korea... Qadaffi's people loved him too.

Shhh...

Why would he "put his bombs away" when the Syrian public wants him to keep defending them against uninvited foreign armies and foreign backed rebels? Just so you know, those "rebels" have bombed Syrian mosques, Syrian hospitals, Syrian neighborhoods, and even Syrian colleges. And that's on top of the Syrian soldiers & government employees they target who are still family members of other Syrian citizens.

Remember the "moderate" rebels who paraded captured Alawites in cages? (ETA: grrr, it's not linking properly so I'll just post the link directly)
www.telegraph.co.uk...

Or the "moderate" rebel leader who ate a Syrian soldier's heart on tape (sorry, not linking that crap)? Or the extremist "rebels" like ISIS/Daesh, Al Qaeda, and Al Nusra, who literally carved out separate territories from Syrian land and then imposed hardcore Wahhabi laws against the Syrian citizens stuck in their "territory"?

The vast majority of the Syrian public is far more worried about those fake "rebels" who don't even care about the will of the Syrian voters or about maintaining the integrity of Syrian territory. Don't believe the propaganda.

It is comical isn't it? Assad just having little drive round in his reasonably priced car while our politicians are chauffeured in Million pound Jags/Rollers etc with bullet proof glass.

"Oooh, I hope he keeps his bombs away".

Seriously... SMH

Well in my humble opinion his Syrian Army should have been footing it some to take out these rebels taking away the need to indiscriminately bomb innocents trying to live among the mayhem .

I’ve always found it odd, the western media says people like President Al-Assad are monstrous and hated dictators whose people would be rid of in a heartbeat.

Surely the respected Al-Assad should be gone now based on that logic. Gun ownership is legal in Syria...

Yet he can go about like this. A publicity stunt of course, but he often travels with extremely light security. Much like another “hated” man, Colonel Gaddafi. Gaddafi made a habit of having no guards and driving himself everywhere.

Our Western “Leaders” travel in giant motarcades composed of armoured cars with hundreds of armed guards.

The difference is Al-Assad does not fear his own people. Why should he? They love him for the service he has done for them, despite the hardships imposed by the western-backed terrorists and their war.

A little bit of satire, so relax. In truth though, Syria is empty because:

1. The millions of refugees sitting in neighbouring states and across Europe.
2. The hundreds of thousands killed by both sides, not least in the carpet bombing of cities and towns by Assad and his mate, Putin.
3. Syria has been busy on the brutality front... One example of many
