We had these around christmas when I was young. They had a nice jelly inside yum! I have seen some around without the jelly inside and it's just a generic hard candy. What happened to the filling???

Honestly I like all the candy I mentioned in the OP. Circus Peanuts are the only candy I won't touch.

I've even tried durian-flavored hard candies

If you don't know what durian is...be thankful.

How about those sticks of hard sugar, that came with a packet of three different flavors of colored sugar? You'd dip the stick of sugar into the packet of sugar. What was that one called? Remeber that one?

I don't think I'm familiar with those ones.

I do remember pixie sticks though. Basically a thin tube of sugary powder.

I have also been guilty of sucking down a kool-aid packet or two in my time

I’m a bit surprised no one has mentioned the ultimate golden oldie candy yet...

Chicko sticks

Chicklets

Cup of Gold - still my favorite - it's good that it is not often found.

These!

www.amazon.com...

I think the ones we used to buy at 7-11 were Lik-m-stiks or something like that. Loved those things.

I really miss those sour lemon drops and atomic fireball candy. And Cinnamon toothpicks, from back when cinnamon was actually hot and sweet, not that weak stuff the stores seem to carry these days.

I've loved Necco wafers since I was a kid. I had completely forgotten them, so thank you. I've never had much of a sweet tooth, but those little buggers are delicious!

I kinda like black licorice. Not my favorite thing, but I can enjoy it in moderation. Not a fan when in Jelly Bean form.

I remember buying candy cigarettes on a whim when I was around 10. Didn't think it looked cool to pretend to smoke, just wanted to try them. Ended up enjoying them. I'd just take a bite and put the stick back in the pack.

-----

Horehound candy? We picked some up at an antique shop or something on vacation. I was a bit precocious and thought the name was hilarious. They actually taste good, I think they had two flavors.

Not sure if it's old people candy, but those strawberry wrapped candies with "juice" inside are AWESOME!

Warheads are also much more tame than they used to be.

I liked these Peanut Butter Bars. I think I was the only person who liked them. Found some in a tub in a store last year and grabbed about a dozen of them, really good.

I love circus peanuts, as long as they aren't stale.

Two things I can only find online now are Yule Logs (Cherry nougat dipped in caramel covered in Pecans) at Christmas and Easter Hunt Eggs. They used to be carried in every store you went too.

My grandma always has the glass dish filled with either hard caramel "Nibs" or those ribbon hard candies which are actually quite tasty and flavorful. No idea where she finds old people candy, I have never seen those ribbon candies in stores, ever. Sometimes around Easter she has giant jelly beans that taste like toothpaste though, I will never go to that store, probably Dollar General or something of that sort.

So where do you stand on the controversy between hard mints and chewy mints?
