Who.. is even looking at the news in the tv? This is not reflection, but an impression I got from all my coworkers, friends and family.
If you are >50-55 years, there is a higher propability that you watch tv-news (or tv per se), but otherwise streaming/newssites/newsfeeds etc. on the internet have taken over by a huge margin!

I read and watch TV news, I'm 31, I like having all the perspectives I can and not live in an echo chamber.
Turns out, things tend to be true when you can fact check things and when a whole lot of news outlets agree, it tends, more often than not, to have some substance.
Though sometimes I like reading rags like The Daily Wire, Breitbart and InfoWars, can be fun from time to time.

I’m just curious as to the criteria involved in coming up with that million-average-viewers figure.

Think about this: I can walk into a McDonalds way up here in Canada and CNN is blasting 24/7 on ten TVs all at once. How many businesses and other organizations and/or buildings in the world are mindlessly playing CNN in the background for ambiance?

A million really seems like a low number, especially if a large proportion of the “viewers” is just ambiance decoration here or there.

I’m definitely not saying that the figures are lying. In fact, I hope they are not. What I don’t understand is how CNN is still in business.

It's probably too much to hope for to hope they lose it all. I find it kind of odd though, TBH. IMO, the majority of Americans are (at the very least) somewhat liberal. I find it hard to believe that anyone with a brain didn't already know CNN was very liberal for years before Trump came along.

I also find it hard to believe that anyone feels bad for Trump. I despise liberals and I still think Trump is a sham. Wouldn't trust that man to make me a cup of coffee.

Maybe they should make Chris Cuomo go on air again and tell their dwindling number of viewers that it is illegal to possess or read about the CNN ratings.

I have a good question... how many of those "1 million viewers" are "captive viewers" in hotels, airports and hospitals with no alternative for news?

None. Ratings are estimates based on the viewing habits of Nielsen households. While things like DVR and online streaming are now accounted for it is still primarily the self-reporting of Nielsen families that drive a show's ratings.

I go on CNN just to count the Trump trash articles and for entertainment . My favorite is the opinion articles on the front page where the writers at cnn can truly show how crazy they are without sources.

You folks my not acknowledge it, but at one point, late 90s, early 2000s, it was everywhere and I didn't mind having it on.

Joining ATS, most users felt something off about media in general. It wasn't until this election that the Media really showed its true face and everything we here on ATS feared was actually showing real fruit. A network bent on taking down Trump and brainwashing its viewers.

The brainwashing works, we have leftist members, some hardcore ones too, that take CNN has Gods word, post sources from them and proclaim absolute truth and source.

So glad this garbage network is getting its due credit for their hit pieces.

Nothing makes me happier, concerning MSM, than to see CNN fail. I used to love that channel, now it truly is a joke.
Even FOX is a joke, in a different way, although, I would much rather watch FOX than CNN. And why even switch to MSNBC? There is no gain. Nothing is better, they are all a joke, imo.

I cant think of a better time, than right NOW, to start another Main Stream News channel. Except make this news channel legit. Can you imagine how quickly a Legit unbiased news channel would become super popular?!

Same with Facebook, its a prime time for someone else to create something similar, except give us what WE want, not what you think we should have. FB is absolutely 99% different from what is was in the beginning. Now, when I log on to fb, its all about cracking open an oyster and just totally losing your mind at how beautiful the blue pearl is @ .65mm's!
I miss posting something witty, starting a conversation with real friends. Or IDK.... it just isn't fun anymore. Can't really explain, its just different, in a cooperate way...

And NPR! I want to jam my fist through my car radio and punch those biased pricks....but, I still listen to a few shows on NPR, the shows about life in general. Not politics. There is some good programming tucked in there.

Back in the day when Bush was president I remember CNN catered more to a strictly American audience. But over the years they've changed and their content is now directed at both an American & international audience as a whole... Also, they aim to be an informative news network, not a 'entertainment news channel', like fox news, with their 'fox & friends' music segments, tabloid news stories and all those blonde journalists with fake tans and long legs.

They actually seem to be extremely well funded... Whenever theirs a news worthy breaking world event, basically anywhere on the planet, they always seem to have an affiliate there within the hour reporting live from the location. That's where CNN would come into their own, they have the resources and networks to cover breaking world events, probably more extensively than any other news network... Their day to day US viewer ratings may be on the low side, compared to entertainment based news channels, like fox news, but their international viewer ratings probably go though the roof during breaking world events.

So yeah, I think CNN will be just fine.

Good. Lets hope they all go to jail now for contributing to "government sanctioned" propaganda.

And that the government stops pushing propaganda to subvert the democratic process for partisan gains.

They can all go to hell and have it hurt the whole way down for all I care. I can only imagine what they think of us.

Also take into consideration that CNN is played in hotels all over North America and other public places in society (government buildings, corporate buildings etc).

So much of their numbers aren't even families or people giving af. It's just program contracts or something forcing this garbage repetition throughout public areas in society and no one actually pays attention or cares.
