A prominent Kremlin-linked Russian politician has methodically cultivated ties with leaders of the National Rifle Association and documented efforts in real time over six years to leverage those connections and gain deeper access into American politics

Depth Of Russian Politician's Cultivation Of NRA Ties Revealed

The source is NPR so many will immediately file this in the fake news bin. But, it seems to me the "nothing burger" keeps getting more sauce on it. This is mostly old news but the sources is new and seems to add some weight.

To summarize NPR translated Twitter messages from Alexander Torshin where apparently he talked about his connection to the NRA. And, we should all remember the story about how Russian money was funneled through that organization.

Yeah, uh, no.

Link NRA to Russians.

Make NRA a terrorist group.

Make NRA a hate group.

Make siding with the 2nd Amendment an ugly thing.

Make siding with the Bill of Rights an ugly thing.

Make siding with the Constitution an ugly thing.

No.

Remember that time when the Russian ambassador sat with all the Democrats?

Clearly, the Democrat party is also a Russian plot ...

Trump's fault.

Probably in the next FISA warrant.

Seriously, it's an attempt to control/change the narrative and make the 2nd Amendment something akin to Russian-zombie-pedophilia-clown-spider-broccoli.

I am learning something though.

We were thinking everything was Trump's fault, but it's not. It's the Russians.

It wasn't Gunther's fault; it was the Russians.

I have to know.

Are you ready to nuke Russia and round up all the Russian collaborators in this country yet?

Gunther was from (formerly) East Germany.

It all makes sense now. . . . .

The left is going to have a terrible time with all this.

Not only are they going to have put together a sadly diminished military to go around rounding up the Russian infiltrators, but they also have the Nazi-fasco/racists to round up too. They're going to have to figure out how to disarm and incarcerate entire states while they're at it -- people who aren't going to just tamely accept the leftsplaining and go quietly.

Hey! I'm not the one who put up a thread that begs to made a parody. Perhaps you should discuss this with the OP.

We all see what we want to see. Coffey looks and he sees Russians. He sees hate and fear. You have to look with better eyes than that.

But, hey, raise your hand if you think that was a Russian water tentacle.

did you read the article?

are you arguing that it's not factual?

or do you just object to people discussing facts that don't fit your favorite narrative?

If I want to sell toothpaste, I find 4 dentists and get 3 to say they like my toothpaste. Then I can say 3 out of 4 dentists recommend it. Are you saying that's not factual?

There are facts and there are interpretations of facts. It's called spin.

as long as everything you don't like can be spin, and everything you do like can be made up out of whole cloth -- or straw -- then i guess you can keep on keepin on.

So basically, you are saying that merely speaking to a Russian, having dealings with a Russian is suspicious if you hold political views you don't agree with?

McCaskill lied about meeting with a Russian, but she gets off OK because she's on "your" side?

There's nothing there. A Russian guy conducted business. That Russian guy turns out to potentially be shady because every Russian is under scrutiny these days. There is no evidence that he did anything with the NRA beyond conduct business. As of yet, that is all speculation on NPR's part.
