Due to establishment attacks over Russia's standard reciprocal intelligence operations, the window of opportunity for cooperation vs. adversarial engagement with Russia has now seemingly ended.

Democrats and their foreign policies have spurred a new arms race, leading to the deployment of two frighteningly advanced weapon systems.

One is the 100 Megaton nuclear cruise-torpedo-UAV, capable of generating major tsunamis off our coastline or doing immeasurable damage to US ports.

Second is a nuclear cruise missile, capable of using Russian GLONASS data to avoid US interceptors and military assets. Traditional ballistic missiles are easier to intercept because their flight path is predetermined prior to launch. The cruise missile, however, will not only have penetration aids but will also be able to change course in real-time making interception near impossible.

Looks like we'll be dumping all kinds of money into more useless weapons and military technology now, instead of improving this country or god-forbid reducing the national debt.

Russia has developed nuclear weapons that can avoid missile defense systems and plans to bolster its arsenal with nuclear-powered cruise missiles capable of hitting any point on the globe, President Vladimir Putin claimed in his annual state-of-the-nation address Thursday.
He also warned that Moscow would mobilize an immediate response to any nuclear attack on it or its allies — adopting Cold War-style overtones that appeared to ramp up Russia’s posturing against the West.

And they snip about me having a gun?

EPIC cognitive dissonance.

Yet they love North Korea and their illegal nuclear weapons.

Hypocrisy. Not unexpected, though
Always someone out there to "snip" about something...

How is anything that Russia does the Democrats' fault? Democrats don't even have full control of the government. The Republicans do. What is with the political baiting this morning? Can y'all just not report objectively anymore? Does everything have to follow the anti-Democrat/liberal script?

This had more to do with our missile defense shield in Europe than anything.

Putin said Russia was developing the array of new weapons in response to the United States’ creation of a missile-defense shield that has been partly deployed in Europe. A refusal to listen to Russia's concerns about the shield, which Moscow has voiced for well over a decade, had forced it to develop a deterrent that could overcome any conceivable kind of missile defense, he said.

abc

It takes more than a year to develop these systems.

I think the title on this thread should be changed. Click bait would be polite, this is unfactual and border line lie.

US policy has led to this, both parties.

Because the last president is on the record telling the world he was willing to be flexible to Russian interests.

in an attempt to appease tension, right...?

when it fits the narrative, the dems are the ones in bed with Russia, and when things start to go tits up, the dems are the hostile ones.

on the plus side, no one is still coming for your guns..

What narrative?

It takes time to build those weapons systems.

The last guy gave it to him.

I'm sure NATO expansion to Russian borders had nothing to do with it.

Ha, ha, the Democrats and their imaginary cold war with Russia just slays me. And its so obvious that Putin is playing this to Russias advantage, working behind the scenes to inflame the stupid Democrats in order to force the US to spend money it doesnt have to counter an imaginary Russian threat, much the same way Reagan skewerd the USSR with the imaginary Star Wars program.

Its increasingly obious to me that the Dems live in an alternate universe. One major miscalculaton the Dems have made is they can't win a cold war, or a hot war for that matter with less than half the country behind them.

Trump actually put more of a military focus on this more than anyone, skipping past just rhetoric.

One of President Trump's first acts in office was to order Defense Secretary Jim Mattis to conduct a "nuclear posture review." Mattis' report was published in February.

It concluded that the U.S. "now faces a more diverse and advanced nuclear-threat environment than ever before, with considerable dynamism in potential adversaries’ development and deployment programs for nuclear weapons and delivery systems."

The report intensely focuses on Russia, and to a lesser extent, China.
USA today

After Crimea, the US has taken steps to show our support for Eastern European countries that are part of NATO, many of whom were worried about the new aggression.

I know, right? Republicans control the House, the Senate, the Presidency, the Supreme Court, and more than half of the Governorships and State Legislatures, yet national foreign policy issues are supposedly the Democratic Party's fault. (facepalm)

It seems like the "party of personal responsibility" refuses to take responsibility for the things that happen under its watch. Either Repubs actually want these policies but want Democrats to take the blame for them, or Repubs are simply too incompetent to push through their own policies which hypothetically would go against this. So they're either liars or incompetent.

And of course, that's assuming that we forget that the Republican Party has long been a backer of increased defense spending. In fact, it was their hero Reagan who accelerated the arms race against the USSR and backed the mujahideens in Afghanistan who were fighting the USSR's occupation that directly led to the collapse of the USSR in the first place. It was the Republicans who complained about the constant decreases in defense spending under Clinton's 2 terms as President, and it was Republicans who continuously increased the defense budget after 9/11.

And let's not forget that Republicans just pushed for increased defense spending in the budget crisis earlier this month (HERE) and Trump's own budget proposal includes increased defense spending (HERE).

Yet now we're supposed to believe that Republicans would be against a guaranteed increase in defense spending? Because that's all an "arms race" really is, which is why defense contractors and the politicians that they lobby love them.
