Kids not learning? that's unpossible!

If parents want to educate their kids, I don't have a problem with that whatsoever-but there has to be a time when they will need a higher education. Sure it's great to school kids on the multiplication table or I before E, but when the time comes when you need to talk to them about delicate matters that are of physical or metaphysical, those would be a doozy.

'Daddy, why do I bleed down there?' 'Dad, why does it get hard?' 'Dad, what is the meaning of life?' those questions would be flipping hard to answer, I myself would love to have a child but since I look like an ogres toe and has the personality of a man that wears a tin foil hat so the likelihood of that happening is...but I digress.

There is so much you teach a child before they need to learn more from another source.

Wait...are you suggesting poverty is the cause of school violence and not guns & mental health?

Schools are propaganda factories, enforcing domestications and submission to authority, whilst installing a forced belief in "education' based on what the "States" say is "correct"

It all swings back to economics eventually. Disintegration of the family -- one parent or both working to make ends meet. Lack of supervision. Drugging kids to keep them docile rather than giving them something positive to do. Paranoia leading to the acquisition of heavy weapons. What do you think?

And what do suggest? Because currently, no schools means bunch of uneducated, illiterate children with no morals as the future of this planet..

And the people controlling them are the offspring of the elite that can afford private education..

Er no thanks.. I'd rather my children get some form of education..

No...not with mass shooters. In fact, research suggests the economic disparity that's prevalent amongst other violent criminals, is not a factor for mass shooters.

You would expect to see a proportionately equal or higher rate of school shootings in private schools based on the 'common traits' shared by mass shooters, but school shootings are almost non-existent in private schools:

Seems to a problem in schools operated by government.

Of course, no one wants to mention that very common thread and its *possible* implications.

I'm fine with the pubic schools my children attend. We have a great teaching staff and the students' test averages far surpass any city in the state. Oh, we also have a shooting sports program where the children actually use firearms and there has been no shootings. It's a small town mainly populated by Air Force families being only 15 minutes from the local base. All in all, I truly love my hometown. It's no Mayberry but it's a far cry from the crime-ridden metropolitan areas where they lower the the standards to make sure that nearly illiterate students receive a diploma.

I wouldn't ban public schools but I would remove any obstacles that stand between the students and a proper education. That includes disruptive children with multiple offenses and no desire to be educated along with teachers that have no passion for their chosen profession and only show up for a paycheck. Education at home doesn't work when the parents aren't involved or educated themselves.

Thanks to the people who "got" my fractured thread. For those who didn't, I used "banning" as a cliche', when the point was to "ban" the requirement for rigorous attendance.

As an adult, it's easy to see the downsides of organized education. Like most any other thing the government is involved with, it is botched and distorted into a perverted version of itself.

I doubt the ancient Greeks would recognize the American public school system as worthy of praise.

And for the rest of us that have two working parents that would suck. We'd have to hire day care or put the kids into private schools or daycare.

I'd rather have my tax money go to having public schools. It's my tax money, I should be able to decide where it get's spent.

Obvious benefit for people able to supervise their own children.
