With the repeal of the Smith-Mundt Act, propaganda against US citizens became legal.

We all know about Operation Mockingbird.

Then, also, under Obama's DOJ, intelligence agents were allowed to pose as reporters, journalists, and documentarians.

IMO, CNN, MSNBC, WaPo, NYT, and a whole host of others are nothing but paid propagandists. We have to be careful of anything coming out of their pieholes or on their websites, and everything should be verified and corroborated to the nth degree.

This extends past MSM outlets and includes both sides of the political divide regardless of the source. You have just as many right wing propaganda sources as left wing propaganda sources. You don't just fund one side when you're pushing propaganda, you play both sides against each other. This is what we're seeing today, some people want to blame everything on Republicans while others want to blame everything on Democrats. That's their end goal with this because no matter who is actually guilty (hint hint, both sides) you'll have one side always defending their choice.

There's little doubt in my mind that the PSYOPS feature of the MSM is steadily at work. Listen for just a minute or two to CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, etc. and you basically get the same propaganda hourly/daily repeated at volume as you get on NPR. In fact, after a while, if you're semi-intelligent, you can pretty much recite the talking points on any topic without even turning on the sound.

I seriously doubt "working" age adults over the age of 30 actually watch any of these news outlets anymore. For one thing, working age adults are just too busy to be watching this crap and most these days get their news online.

The real problem however is the youth. They have far too much time on their hands and they doubtless pick up some of this narrative of propaganda from the MSM. Hence........the kids out of Florida wanting to march on Washington. They have little to no life experience but they can regurgitate the MSM talking points at will. And ultimately, its that "unthinking" class that's going to ruin the US, if they haven't already.

That happened 2 or 3 years ago I think. Maybe more.

But... they've been doing it nonstop since ever. So no real big difference. Just now they can air Voice of America domestically without anyone arguing the law against them.

I see a lot of lies and disinformation coming from places like 4Chan, Alex Jones, and Fox News, as well as Breitbart. The O.P. is right, you have to be vigilant about what information you consume.

Mass shootings I would expect another one soon ( I hope not)for reiteration and push a narrative on gun control instead of what the real problem is ... It was a few years ago when Obama signed into law a law in which "propaganda" was approved to be used on its citizens. It was moved through and the excuse/alibi given by Obama was "It'll improve the methods and means so the Gov't. can better serve its citizenry" or words to that effect.

I made mention right here on ATS™ in more than one thread. If memory serves, nobody read it or if they did read it, they didn't respond...
